PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 07, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Jalaal Hayes has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Determined, passionate and currently making history in his field, Dr. Hayes is an educator in the field of science at both the secondary and higher education levels. However, it is not just his work in the classroom that has earned him national recognition. By the time he was 18 years old, he had already earned his high school diploma and two bachelor's degrees. At 22, Dr. Hayes became the youngest student to earn a doctorate at the Delaware State University since the 124-year-old university began granting PhD's in 2004. Today, he is serving a role as a visiting assistant professor at Delaware State University in the Department of Chemistry.

When asked of his incredible drive, Dr. Hayes answer is straightforward: he wants to encourage and facilitate growth of African American professionals in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. "Of the 5,061 U.S. citizens or permanent residents who earned doctorates in the physical sciences in 2014, 178, or 3.5 percent, were black or African American," he says, adding that his goal is to change those numbers. In addition to his work as a teacher, Dr. Hayes has developed an education company that makes STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) programs easy and accessible.

In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Hayes was awarded the Male Student of the Year Award at the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Award Ceremony. He holds a patent for creating an alternative energy system for cars that runs on hydrogen, and he is nationally recognized as the youngest ever PhD recipient from Delaware State University. To remain active in his industry, Dr. Hayes is a member of the American Chemical Society, Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Honors Society, the National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers and the Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society.

To share his insights and his journey, Dr. Hayes has contributed articles to peer-reviewed journals and he was featured on various media such "The Torn Joyner Morning Show", Disney's "Be Inspired" commercial, and the local ABC news segment entitled "Visions". Dr. Hayes was also profiled in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and The Philadelphia Tribune. At the age of 24, Dr. Hayes has accomplished more than most people do in the first half of their careers, but for him it is only the beginning. As he looks to the future, he intends to continue in his work as an educator and plans to grow his STEM program to truly make an impact on the lives of African American students in the decades to come.
