Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen, Pacific Mayor Leanne Guier, Kent Mayor Dana Ralph and Other Top King County Government Leaders Elected to Lead the Sound Cities Association in 2018

2018 Officers and Board members were announced by the Sound Cities Association, which represents 38 King County, Washington, cities and provides a regional voice for nearly one million people

    TUKWILA, WA, February 06, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Sound Cities Association (SCA), which represents 38 King County cities and provides a regional voice for nearly one million people, has announced the election of officers and board members to lead the organization in 2018.

Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen has been elected to serve as SCA President, with Mayor Leanne Guier of Pacific elected Vice President and Kent Mayor Dana Ralph elected Treasurer. Director at large Lake Forrest Park Deputy Mayor Catherine Stanford and immediate Past President Mayor David Baker of Kenmore complete the SCA Executive Committee.

"These strong and dedicated leaders all have a reputation for getting things done in their cities and for our region," said Deanna Dawson, SCA Executive Director. "We face a number of critical issues and with these individuals, our board and our member cities, I am confident we will see tremendous results and success this year."

SCA provides leadership in areas such as economic and community development, transportation, land use, health, government operations, the environment, education, public safety, social welfare and other public policy issues.

Dawson said that SCA will be welcoming three new board members in 2018. The new SCA board members are Mayor Amy Ockerlander of Duvall representing the Snoqualmie Valley Caucus, Councilmember Bruce Bassett of Mercer Island representing the North Caucus, and Renton City Council President Ed Prince, who will serve as SCA Public Issues Committee (PIC) Chair.

Returning SCA board members are Mayor Jim Ferrell of Federal Way, Mayor Nancy Backus of Auburn, Covington Mayor Jeff Wagner, Redmond Councilmember Hank Margeson, and Shoreline City Manager Debbie Tarry.

SCA, which was formerly known as the Suburban Cities Association, was established more than 40 years ago to help King County cities act locally and partner regionally to create vital and thriving communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support and networking.
