Tae Yun Oh Honored for Contributions to Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery

    SEOUL, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, March 16, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tae Yun Oh, MD, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An expert in the field of medicine, Dr. Oh is a professor with the Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine. In this role, he focuses on the surgical treatment of patients with various chest diseases, such as lung cancer and esophageal cancer. Initially inspired to pursue a career as a doctor because of his attraction to the humanistic element of the profession, Dr. Oh received an MD from Kyungpook National University and a PhD from Hanyang University. Board certified by the Korean Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and Korean Board of Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Oh completed a residency at the Kyungpook National University Hospital and a clinical fellowship at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital, where he studied thoracic oncology in association with the Heart and Lung Transplantation Program. He previously served as a surgeon with the Republic of Korea Army.

Dr. Oh maintains involvement with a wide range of medical organizations, including the Korean Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, the Korean Society of Clinical Oncology, the Korean Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the Korean Medical Association. He is also a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Network, the Chest Wall Deformity International Group, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery. In addition, he serves as director of the Korean Photodynamic Association.

Since entering practice, Dr. Oh has contributed 46 articles to professional journals pertaining to his areas of expertise. His most recent publications include "Venous Distensibility as a Key Factor in the Success of Arteriovenous Fistulas at the Wrist" in the Annals of Vascular Surgery, "Clinical review and analysis of complications of totally implantable venous access devices for chemotherapy" in Medical Oncology and "A case of metachronous metastasis to the breast from non-small cell lung carcinoma" in Cancer Research and Treatment.

In recognition of his contributions to the affiliated medical community, Dr. Oh was named Best Friendly Doctor and Best Trusted Faculty in 2013. He was recently selected to receive an Appreciation Plaque from the KTCS in 2017. He has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including the 33rd edition of Who's Who in the World, which was published in 2016. However, Dr. Oh takes the greatest pride in being elected as a chair of the board of the Korean Society for Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery.
