Ruth Ann Pfaffe Snowden Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Snowden is a woman of many talents, and is well-known in her community as an artist and former Adjunct Professor of contemporary art at Quincy University. She is primarily a biblical artist, and paints in alkaloid oil, acrylic, watercolors, gouache, charcoal and ink. In other disciplines, Ms. Snowden has taught mathematics, and served as a legal secretary in addition to raising her family of four children.

A Quincy native, Ms. Snowden was born to Emil and Edith Pfaffe and attended Quincy University. She earned a Bachelor's degree in 1964 and went on to teach mathematics with Notre Dame High School. In 1974, Ms. Snowden went on to Quincy University as a Mathematics Lecturer, and in 1983, she joined Snowden and Snowden Attorneys as a Legal Secretary. She received her first qualification in fine arts with a Bachelor's degree from Quincy University in 1989, and just a few years later, she began to produce for gallery exhibitions and collections. In 1991, she earned a MFA from the University of Southern Illinois.

Ms. Snowden's work has been featured in the Biblical Arts Center of Dallas, the Michael Stone Collection in Washington, and The Law at Kennedy Galleries in New York City. She is the artist and editor of "Visualizing Revelation," and has been featured in "Artists of Illinois" and "Quincy Women, 1838-1996."

From 1991 to 2004, Ms. Snowden served as an Adjunct Professor of contemporary art at the department of fine art in Quincy University, after earning a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1991. Additionally, she has served with the Young Men's Christian Association and Young Women's Christian Association in Quincy from 1978 to 1996, as well as the Quincy Museum, the Adams County campaign for United States Senator Dick Durbin. Ms. Snowden is also affiliated with the Quincy Art Center, where she served as President from 1984 to 1986 and Chair of the Exhibition Committee from 1995 to 1996. Ms. Snowden was notably a Curator for Significant Architect in Quincy and a member of the multi-arts panel for the Illinois Arts Council.

For dedication to the arts, Ms. Snowden was selected for inclusion in six volumes of Who's Who of American Women, the 2004 volume of Who's Who' in the World, the 2004 to 2005 volume of Who's Who in American Education, and the 2004 volume of Who's Who in America. She is the mother of Jim, David, Sam, and Amy with her husband Howard L. Snowden. Ms. Snowden enjoys international travel and bible study.
