Dr. Bernstein is an expert in psychometrics, the field of study that involves the theory and technique of psychological measurement, or mental capacities and processes.

Professor emeritus of clinical science at The University of Texas at Arlington since 2017, Dr. Bernstein began teaching at the university as an assistant professor in 1965. He formerly taught at the University of Illinois, the University of Texas Southwest Medical School and the University of Texas at Arlington, and he was a visiting professor at North Texas State University. He has been a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing since 2008. He continues to serve as a consultant for the Behavioral Sciences Research Press, Inc., for the past three years.

Dr. Bernstein is an expert in psychometrics, the field of study that involves the theory and technique of psychological measurement, or mental capacities and processes. Heavily involved in the field, he had the opportunity to publish the revision of "Psychometrix Theories," Jum C. Nunnally's classic text. Nunnally had died prior to the revision of his book. Dr. Bernstein has also been credited with co-authoring "Applied Multivariate Analysis" in 1988, "Psychometric Theory" in 1994, "Computer Literacy: Getting the Most from Your PC" in 1998, and "Statistical Data Analysis for the Personal Computer" in 2001. He has additionally edited "Behavior Research Methods" and contributed more than 130 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Earning a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Michigan in Psychology Honors, a Master of Arts, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology at Vanderbilt University, Dr. Bernstein is an elected fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Psychonomic Society, and the Society for Personality Assessment. The recipient of an award from the American Medical Association in 1969, and one from the American Ophthalmology-Otolaryngology in 1969, he has been highlighted in over 20 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Married to his amazing wife Linda Jean Greif since 1961 with two children and two grandchildren, Dr. Bernstein enjoys listening to jazz music, collecting fountain pens, and traveling annually to Florence, Italy, which he has been doing for more than 20 years.
