Claire Kohn Coleman Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

With over 70 years of industry experience to her credit, Ms. Coleman worked as a public relations director and senior vice president for The Siesel Co., Inc. from 1972 to 1988. She served as president of Coleman Communications from 1990 to 2015. Previously the president of the Tisch Trask Communications Resources and Public Relations Group from 1988 to 1989, Ms. Coleman also held the role of senior vice president of the Franco Public Relations Group from 1989 to 1990.

The department head for Roy Bernard, Inc., from 1955 to 1958, Ms. Coleman was the director for the Wallpaper Information Bureau in 1954 and the public relations director for the Associated American Artists from 1953 to 1954. She also worked in the positions of public relations director for United Wallpaper from 1950 to 1953, the assistant home editor at New York Times from 1949 to 1950, and as market editor at Fairchild Publications from 1945 to 1948. Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Coleman pursued an education at the Pennsylvania State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1945.

Beyond her efforts within the field, Ms. Coleman has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She served the Foundation of Women Executives in Public Relations on the board of directors from 1998 to 2006, president from 1993 to 1994, and vice president from 1992 to 1993. The chairman of the women's division of UJA-Federation of New Rochelle in 1971, she was also the vice president of the New Rochelle PTA Council from 1969 to 1970, an active member of the Mayor's Advisory Council on Board Education Appointments in New Rochelle, NY, in 1969, the central steering committee for school district critical assessments in New Rochelle from 1969 to 1971, and an active member of the Mayor's Advisory Council on Aging in New Rochelle in 1966. Additionally, Ms. Coleman was involved with Beechmont Association on their advisory board from 1990 to 2013 and as vice president of the board of directors from 1969 to 1974.

In addition to her primary trade, Ms. Coleman remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She worked in various capacities for the International Furnishings and Design Association, formerly known as the Home Fashions League, including as founder in 1947, executive chairman in 1947, vice president from 1948 to 1950, vice president of the Chicago Chapter from 1950 to 1953, and as national president from 1980 to 1981. Currently serving on the advisory board for the New York Chapter since 2012 and the national advisory board in 2013, she served the International Furnishings and Design Association as a national treasurer from 1977 to 1978, national vice president of marketing from 1998 to 2000, vice president of the New York Chapter in 1994 and from 2006 to 2007, director-at-large with the New York Chapter from 2007 to 2015, and member-at-large to 2019. Ms. Coleman was also a president of Women Executives in Public Relations, contributing to the board of directors from 1983 to 1984, the secretary from 1986 to 1987, the president-elect from 1994 to 1995, and the president from 1996 to 1997.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Coleman has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her impressive career. She has been presented with various awards from the International Furnishings and Design Association, including an International Honorary Recognition Award in 1998, Circle of Excellence Award in 1994 and 2007, and the New York Chapter Anniversary Honorary Recognition Award in 2012. A fellow of the International Furnishings and Design Association, Ms. Coleman was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
