Hot Sauce Depot's Scholarship For Madison's Rae of Hope is a new scholarship that will be awarded to a student who is accepted to or enrolled in an accredited Texas university, college, or technical school for the 2018-2019 school year.

Hot Sauce Depot has partnered with Madison's Rae of Hope for this year's scholarship to help further spread the organization's mission as well as provide financial assistance to Texas students.

FORT WORTH, TX, April 25, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hot Sauce Depot has partnered with the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Madison's Rae of Hope to introduce Hot Sauce Depot's Scholarship For Madison's Rae of Hope for the joint mission of providing financial assistance to deserving students attending postsecondary school in the state of Texas as well as increasing awareness for suicide prevention.

Hot Sauce Depot started their Texas Scholars Program in 2016 but made changes this year by partnering with Madison's Rae of Hope. Hot Sauce Depot's Scholarship For Madison's Rae of Hope will be awarded to an eligible student who is attending post-secondary school in the state of Texas for the 2018-2019 school year. The scholarship funds will be awarded directly to the student, allowing the recipient to put the money towards a variety of educational expenses, including tuition, housing, and books.

In a joint statement, Jeff and Jerri Torres, Madison's parents and founders of Madison's Rae of Hope, explained, "Madison's Rae of Hope is a tribute in loving memory of Madison who suffered a fatal depression from bullying which ultimately lead to her suicide on October 20, 2015. It is our desire to provide education, resources, and awareness on these topics to end the stigma and assist in suicide prevention."

Rick and Dawn Morris, owners of Hot Sauce Depot, became close with the Torres family when they were living in Texas. After Jeff and Jerri founded Madison's Rae of Hope, Rick and Dawn asked to partner with them for this year's scholarship to help further spread the organization's mission.

"We chose Madison's Rae of Hope because of our relationship with the Torres family," Rick and Dawn Morris explained. "We had the pleasure of knowing an amazing young woman who was lost to us through bullying and depression."

Rick and Dawn continued, "We also saw Jeff and Jerri stand up and say, 'No more.' They took on the job of bringing awareness of the types of bullying, and how devastating they can be. Hot Sauce Depot is proud to help achieve this goal."

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have or maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher; be currently accepted to or enrolled in an accredited Texas university, college, or technical school for the 2018-2019 school year; and be a U.S. citizen or legal resident. Eligible students must write an essay (that is no more than 500 words in length) that conveys the importance of increasing awareness of suicide prevention and mental health. The $500 scholarship will be awarded in January 2019.

The release of this statement was issued to coincide with International Anti-Bullying Day, which occurs this year on May 4, 2018. Bullying affects children all over the world, and it is one of the top reasons of suicide among students and children. Since 2012, Anti-Bullying Day has been observed as a special day to take a stand against bullying across 25 countries and counting.
