Mommy's Running for Office

The Time is Right for This New Children's Book by Inge W. Horowitz

RICHMOND, VA, May 23, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Inge W. Horowitz, a former occupational therapist and educational consultant for the Virginia Department of Education, is launching a children's chapter book titled, Mommy's Running for Office, which tells a tale of two young brothers whose mother is running for local office. This book is ideal for elementary school children to help them begin to understand the electoral process and the importance of everyone taking part in the process.

Mommy's Running for Office is based on a true story, as told through the voice of the child whose mommy runs for office.

"I was so touched by this story when I first heard it that it made me think about how other children must feel and the questions they must have about the political process, especially when a parent is involved," says Horowitz. "I also hope it helps children begin to understand how people get to serve in government and the impact each citizen can have."

This wonderful, short chapter book is already gaining accolades from children's book authors, politicians and elementary grade teachers.

"As the mother of young children and Delegate in the state legislature, I highly recommend this book. Whether you are a mother seeking public office or simply want your children to know about running for office, this book gives ideas to help you involve children in the democratic process."
- Delegate Debra Rodman, Virginia House of Delegates

"This short chapter book for children provides an engaging and informative introduction to the electoral process through the eyes of a young boy who helps his mother run for office."
- Clare Hodgson Meeker, author of Partner in Revolution: Abigail Adams and several other children's books.
