Miwa Shinohara Celebrates Two and a Half Decades of Professional Excellence in Medicine



    TOKYO, JAPAN, June 06, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Shinohara earned the Late Breaking Abstract Award and Prize from the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, the best presentation award from the Japanese Society of Allergology, and was selected highlighted abstract's author by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology

Miwa Shinohara has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Supported by 25 years of practiced industry experience, Dr. Shinohara currently serves as an assistant professor in the department of pediatrics at Juntendo University. She entered the Harvard Medical School-Introduction Clinical Research Training 2019 in Japan, and will step up to the HMS-Global Research Scholar Research Training 2020 in June 2019. Earlier in her career, she worked in varying educational roles with Kochi Medical School, and the National Center for Child Health and Development in Tokyo. Over the years, she has also found success through her work with Kochi University, Chiba University, and Ehime University Hospital. She was recognized as a Research Fellow of the School of Pediatrics and Child Health at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children with the University of Western Australia in 2010. In a career filled with highlights, becoming a corresponding author of an academic paper for the Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Pulmonology Journal in 2017 ranks among her proudest moments, as she believes that the ability to write academic papers leaves open a plethora of opportunities.

A certified physician through the Japanese Pediatric Society, Dr. Shinohara pursued an education at Kochi Medical School, initially earning a Doctor of Philosophy. According to her passions for research and writing papers, she became one of students of Harvard Medical School's post-graduated program; Introduction of Clinical Research in Japan 2019 since January, 2019. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Shinohara is affiliated with the Japanese Society of Allergology, the Japanese Society of Pediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology, the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, the Royal Society of Medicine, England, the Japan Society for Clinical Immunology, the Japanese Society of Immunology, the Japan Society of Human Genetics, the Japanese Society for Immunodeficiency and Autoinflammatory Diseases, the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases, and the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology.

Recently, she was invited to talk about "pediatric allergy in Japan" by the three provinces of Northeast Children's Hospital Development Forum and Liaodong Peninsula Women's and Children's Forum held by Dailen Children's Hospital.

Utilizing her vast knowledge, Dr. Shinohara contributes to the Journal of Asthma as a reviewer. She has additionally corresponding authored an article as "Fetal Tobacco Smoke Exposure in the Third Trimester of Pregnancy is Associated with Atopic Eczema/Dermatitis Syndrome in Infancy", first-authored such articles as "Symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis in Mothers During Early Pregnancy are Associated with Higher Prevalence of Allergic Rhinitis in their Offspring" and "Presence of Eosinophils in Nasal Secretion during Acute Respiratory Tract Infection in Young Children Predicts Subsequent Wheezing within Two Months", etc., and co-authored such as articles as "Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Lactobacillus casei Suppress Escherichia coli-Induced Chemokine Expression in Intestinal Epithelial Cells" and "Human tyrosine kinase 2 deficiency reveals its requisite roles in multiple cytokine signalsinvolved in innate and acquired immunity", etc. For her outstanding work in medicine, she was presented with the Best Presentation Award from the Japanese Society of Allergology and the Late Breaking Abstract Award & Prize from the 29th European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. In 2018, she got a KAKEN grant; Scientific Research C Grantee of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Looking toward the future, Dr. Shinohara intends to continue honing her expertise and remain open to new opportunities.
