ST. IVES, AUSTRALIA, June 21, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present David Keith Sweeting, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Sweeting celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Owner, director and electrical engineering consultant of Sweeting Consulting Pty. Ltd. for close to 30 years, Dr. Sweeting is a tenured electrical engineer and researcher who is experienced in a variety of areas, including electrical power distribution, plasma and arc physics, power supply quality, electricity regulations, and power system audits, among others. Establishing his consulting firm in 1989, he formerly served as an associate director for Bassett Consulting Pty. Ltd. in Sydney beginning in 1980, was an engineer of substations and overhead transmissions and the head of the high-power testing station at AUSGRID for six years, and an engineer of high power testing at Brown Boveri in Baden, Switzerland, for three years.

Dr. Sweeting is also known as the owner and manager of Remote Photo-Voltaic Array, Wind Generator and Inverter Power Supply since 2002, honorary visiting professor at the University of Wollongong since 2001, and tree farmer on the Pinus Radiata Plantation since 1983. Throughout his career, Dr. Sweeting has contributed nearly 100 scholarly articles to engineering and science publications on circuit breakers, testing, switching over voltages, cable fault location, motor failures, computer-aided design, standards, safety, quality of supply, electric arc hazards and shortage of electrical power engineers, among other topics. He has been the recipient of two Gold Awards from the Association of Consulting Engineers in Australia, several Conway Prizes from the Electrical Energy Society of Australia and an M.A. Sargent Medal from Engineers Australia in 2015. He also holds three patents relating to the measurement of electrical quantities. In 2018 he received an Order of Australia Medal.

His most significant world contribution was in explaining the correct physics of the unconstrained electric arcs which occur inside electrical switchboards when they blow up in front of an electrician and send them to hospital for many months.

In America one person was being severely burnt each day resulting in many months of hospitalization but only few deaths. Due to the low death rate the authorities were doing nothing until Ralph Lee realized that something had to be done and did a magnificent job of introducing a safety standard in America. Unfortunately it was based on totally incorrect electric arc physics and was never going to address the real issue. David recognized this and designed a few experiments to demonstrate what happens and explain the correct physics of unconstrained electric arcs. With the help of the Late Prof. Tony Stokes, they managed to present his results to the Americans. He has since explained this many times all over the world thus reducing the number and severity of these arc hazard incidents, which is often called arc flash.

He also led the Australian Standards Committee that completely redrafted an International Standards on calculating the short circuit currents that occur during faults on the power system. The Australian Standard which was clear, succinct and designed to be computer calculable was then submitted to the international committee as the first version of a new standard and was issued internationally with only a few changes from the Australian document. This is how Australia plays a leading role on many international bodies.

An elected and honorary member of Engineers Australia and senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Dr. Sweeting is also active with several other national and international committees, including the national New South Wales committees of the Electrical Energy Society of Australia. Married to Eniko Sweeting since 1966 with three children, Dr. Sweeting holds a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney and is certified through Engineers Australia. He has been cited in the 32nd and 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, David Keith Sweeting, Ph.D., has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
