SeniorNet Appoints Four New Board Members in Pursuit of Strategic Growth

Leaders in Aging to Propel Non-Profit Forward

    FORT MYERS, FL, July 11, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- SeniorNet, the nation's premier provider of computer education to those in need, added four new directors to its board to help foster growth and the organization's commitment to diversity. The new members will serve two-year terms. The new directors are:

Debra Carter is National Director of the Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP), administered by the National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, Inc. (NCBA). Carter who has been with the center for nearly 16 years, is a recognized and accomplished leader in training older workers. She now directs the National SCSEP program which serves nine states and the District of Columbia. Prior to joining NCBA, Carter was Executive Director of Sunrise Assisted Living in Pikesville, Md.

Anthony Cirillo is president of The Aging Experience. His consultancy helps organizations craft experiences and opportunities in the mature marketplace, as well as helping family caregivers thrive. He is a monthly contributor to the Charlotte Today program, a blogger for Huffington Post 50, and contributor to US News and World Report. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and an editorial board member of the Journal of Aging and Geriatric Psychiatry.

William I. "Bill" James currently serves as VP of Operations at the Computer Club of Oklahoma City (SeniorNet). He previously served for two terms as the group's president beginning in 2000. James is an avid contributor to SeniorNet's curriculum and technical advancement. He volunteers for the Association of Personal Computer Users Group and serves on the board of North Care Center, a private, non-profit behavioral and social services facility in his hometown. James is retired from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Sarah Ruiz, Ph.D. is a Program Officer at the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research. Dr. Ruiz has more than 15 years of experience designing and analyzing research studies on health outcomes for older adults and people with disabilities. Her previous roles encompassed research leadership positions at NORC at the University of Chicago, the National Self-Management Alliance, RAND Corporation and IMPAQ International.

Also welcoming the new members are incumbent Board members: Slava Vero, vice chairman and co-founder of the SeniorNet Computer Learning Center on Long Island, N.Y.; Joseph Shaffery, treasurer and former VP and treasurer of HELP USA; Barbara Page, secretary and former board chair of the Family Service League of Long Island, N.Y.; Dr. Donghee Han, director of the Research Institute of Science for Better Living for the Elderly; Paul Sladkus, founder of the Good News Corporation; and Leslie M. Smith, retired IBM business development executive and SeniorNet President and CEO.
