A founder and principal, and chief executive officer of a professional services firm for many years, Mr. Bly joined the Family Enterprise Business Services (FEBS) practice of Ernst and Young LLP (EY) as an executive director in 2017. In this position, he is an EY national practice leader in providing services to multi-generational, enterprising families and family offices that own and control upper middle market operating businesses.

Mr. Bly's position with EY stemmed from its acquisition in 2017 of the specialized family business advisory firm founded by Mr. Bly in 1982. The firm, Headwaters SC, LP (HWSC) (formerly Sources Companies., LLC), was a professional services firm that helped business-owning families develop and implement strategies related to business growth, company capitalization, generational transition, and shareholder liquidity. He served as its CEO for over twenty-five (25) years.

For over thirty-five (35) years, Mr. Bly has successfully advised principal owners of hundreds of family-controlled businesses on business building and generational transition issues. He has been a leading advocate of the important purpose and role that successful and growing, family-controlled businesses serve in their local economies and communities within smaller cities, towns and rural areas. He also chaired for many years, Business Growth Alliance, LLC (BGA), an international network of professional service firms co-founded by Mr. Bly that assists owners of private companies on corporate development and finance matters, and he is a founder and principal, and the chairman emeritus, of FODIS, LLC, a professional services firm that provides family office direct investment services to offer long-term, patient capital to family businesses.

Mr. Bly's extensive background in the growth and finance of family-controlled businesses also included co-founding and leading Source Capital, Ltd., the advisory division of Source Companies, LLC which was the predecessor to HWSC, as its president. Previously, he served as a managing executive of Integrated Resources Equity Corporation (IREC), and as a representative of the family business division of CIGNA Financial Services. Mr. Bly began his career as a management trainee with Connecticut General Life, beginning in 1974. Mr. Bly earned a bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1973 and has been certified as an advisor in mergers and acquisitions (CM&AA) by the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors.

Mr. Bly also currently serves as a member of the investment committee of the board of directors for High Companies, which includes High Industries and High Real Estate Group since 2011. He has likewise served since 2016 on the business advisory board of Huntley & Huntley, Inc., a 100+ year old privately-owned oil and gas exploration company with holdings in the Marcellus & Utica natural gas basin in western Pennsylvania. He previously served on the advisory board of C.H. Brigg's Hardware, Inc. from 2006 through 2011. Mr. Bly is affiliated as a member of the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors and the Association of Corporate Growth. He is moreover a philanthropist, who helped fund the start-up of PathNorth, a renowned non-profit organization dedicated to broadening the definition of success through the exploration of a life of meaning. In 2018, Mr. Bly was the recipient of the PathNorth John C. Whitehead Award for Civility.

Married to Laurie Ann Ramadon since 1987, with four children, Mr. Bly enjoys wine, music, history, golf and shooting, travel, and automobiles. Furthermore, he is active with the Rolling Rock Club, the Allegheny Country Club, the Edgeworth Club, The Stonedale Guns, and the Duquesne Club. He has been featured in approximately 40 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World.
