Faye Joyce Ringel, Ph.D., Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    NORWICH, CT, July 16, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Faye Joyce Ringel, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Ringel celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. A retired literature educator, Dr. Ringel dedicated many years to the field of academia. Recently serving as a visiting lecturer at Avery Point – University of Connecticut between 2013 and 2014 and as a consultant for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) Alumni Association, she spent 24 years of her career as a professor of English in the department of humanities with the USCGA in New London, CT, until 2009. She also taught English at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, CT, and Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT, during the early 1980s.

During her tenure at the USCGA, Dr. Ringel was very involved with the honors program on campus. Affording the opportunity to prepare cadets for prestigious international scholarships and fellowships, she also helped prepare the academy's first ever Truman Scholarship and Fulbright Scholarship, which was very rewarding. Notably, Dr. Ringel received a Distinguished Faculty Award for her work by the USCGA Alumni Association in 2006.

The author of the book "New England's Gothic Literature" in 1995, Dr. Ringel has also been known for her roles as a singer and pianist. In fact, she recorded a CD entitled "Hot Chestnuts" in 2002 and performed in the world premiere of the Broadway musical revue "Stepping Out on Broadway" in 2018.

Earning a Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature, summa cum laude, at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, in 1972, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in comparative literature at Brown University in 1979, Dr. Ringel has long been affiliated as a member of several professional organizations in her field. She is a member of the International Association for the Fantastic in the Art, DKG International, an honor society for women educators. She is also a member and former area chair of the Northeast Popular/American Culture Association, member and longtime editorial board member of the International Gothic Association of more than 20 years, and a member, former executive board member and secretary of the New England Association of Teachers of English.

Involved in her local community, Dr. Ringel has been a board member for the Norwich chapter of Hadassah for the past 20 years, where she served two terms as president. She is a former board member for Beth Jacob Synagogue in Norwich for nearly a decade and was the founding president of the Norwich Arts Center in 1987. Proud to have served as the center's president, the organization continues to thrive after more than 30 years and has been recognized by the city for serving a diverse population and for expanding the arts in eastern Connecticut.

The recipient of a Charles Swain Thomas Award from the New England Association of Teachers of English in 2005, a Hand of Healing Award from the Connecticut Region Hadassah in 2006, and a Distinguished Career Service Award from the Department of Homeland Security in 2009, Dr. Ringel has been included in multiple editions of Who's Who, including every edition of Who's Who in America since 2008 and several editions of Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. Currently, she spends her free time enjoying vocal and instrumental music, as well as theater.
