NEW YORK, NY, July 27, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Daniel S.J. Choy MD, FACP, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Choy celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After Ruth Benedict, he was the second person to explore the matriarchal islands of San Blas which then had a male native teacher married to a blonde lady from Detroit, but a native female ruler. This was during a holiday from his medical residency at Columbia when he served as the ship's physician on the S.S. Panama. The transportation was via Piper Cub and dugout canoe. For about a year he sent medical supplies to the medicine man. For this exploit he was voted into the Explorer's Club.

With decades of industry experience to his credit, Dr. Choy has worked for Mount Sinai Saint Luke's as the director of the laser laboratory, associate attending physician, and research scientist in the cardiology laboratory. Prior to this appointment, he held the positions of attending physician at Lenox Hill Hospital for Northwell Health and assistant clinical professor of medicine for Columbia University. Previously, he served French Hospital of New York as chief of tumor service from 1962 to 1974 and Francis Delafield Hospital for Columbia University as a resident from 1951 to 1954. Dr. Choy began his career as an intern at Meadowbrook Hospital from 1949 to 1950.

Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Choy pursued an education at Columbia University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1944. He concluded his studies at Columbia University in 1949, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Choy completed service with the United States Air Force, holding the rank of captain at the Aero-Medical Laboratory between 1950 and 1952.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Choy has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He has contributed to the Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind-Brain Behavior Institute at Columbia University as a consultant. Furthermore, he has held the role of inventor for "First Successful Rx of Tinnitus in 5,000 Years" in 2001, "Myocardial Angiogenesis" in 1989, "Left Ventricular Assist Device-Intraventricular Balloon" in 1987, essentially an artificial heart " sold to Dr. Eric Rose, Director of Cardiovascular Surgery, Columbia University", "Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression" in 1986, "Laser Angioplasty" in 1980, and "Aeroplast" in 1950, a spray-on burn dressing for atomic attack, stockpiled by the Defense Department for 36 years, then sold to Helene Curtis for $36 /$1. Currently, approximately 175,000 "Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression" are performed worldwide for disc herniations. Dr. Choy has been responsible for 8,000 such procedures.

Dr. Choy found success with his written works as well, having authored "CHOY'S LUCK: Shanghai to New York, a Life of Inventions, Medicine, and Adventure" in 2008, which can be found on Amazon.com. He authored a textbook "Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression" (the last word "Decompression" was changed from "Dissolution" on the advice of Dr. A.A. White of Harvard University), published by SPRINGER, 2003.

In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Choy remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained involvement with the American Board of Laser Surgery as co-founder and on the board of directors since 1985. Dr. Choy was a member of the Explorers Club, the New York Yacht Club, and the American Society for Clinical Oncology.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Choy has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He was recognized as a fellow of the American Cancer Society from 1951 to 1954 and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Choy was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in the East.

"The U.S. has lost a major figure in Senator John McCain. Although nominally a Republican, he voted against scrapping Obamacare with a vigorous downturned thumb because that would hurt too many people; he straightened out a misinformed voter who thought Obama was an anti-Amercican Muslim by informing her that he was normal family man who loved his family. We need more giants like him in this great country!"
