Megan R. Wolf, MD, Celebrates More than 10 Years of Professional Excellence



    WEST HARTFORD, CT, July 31, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Megan R. Wolf, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 10 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Wolf has worked at UCONN Health as an Orthopaedic Surgery resident physician since 2014. During this time, she served as the Neag Research Resident in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCONN Health from 2016 to 2017. She also served as the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program representative on the Resident Leadership Counsel from 2016 to 2017 and received the University of Connecticut Graduate Medical Education Outstanding Resident award. Further, she has served on the American Academy/Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Resident Assembly Executive Committee for the terms 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. In medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, she was a research fellow in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery from 2012 to 2013. She was the creator and coordinator of the Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine Mini-Elective in 2013 and a research scholar in the Department of Psychiatry from 2010 to 2014, focusing on medical student burnout. Prior to these appointments, she held the position of undergraduate research assistant in the Human Performance Lab at the University of Connecticut from 2005 to 2009 and in the Human Performance Centre at Edith Cowan University while studying abroad in 2007. Dr. Wolf began her career at the University of Connecticut as a major in Biological Sciences and as a research assistant in Strength and Conditioning from 2005 to 2009 as well as a personal tutor in the Interdisciplinary Special Topics Seminar from 2006 to 2009.

Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Wolf pursued an education at the University of Connecticut where she achieved a Bachelor of Science in biological science, summa cum laude, from the Honors Program. She also studied abroad in 2007 at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup, Western Australia. Dr. Wolf concluded her studies at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2014, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine.

Following these accomplishments, Dr. Wolf has contributed to many conferences, workshops, and symposiums in her industry, including as a paper presenter at the Biennial ISAKOS Congress in 2017, an invited presenter for the Annual Deans' Symposium on Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the University of Connecticut in 2017, and as a speaker at the Orthopaedic Surgery Graduation for the University of Connecticut in 2017. She has also held multiple roles in a number of charitable efforts, such as volunteer for Operation Walk Pittsburgh in 2011, medical volunteer for the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2011, and an open house volunteer for the Husky Ambassador program at the University of Connecticut from 2006 to 2009.

Dr. Wolf found success with her written works as well, having co-authored such publications as "Operative Techniques: Shoulder and Elbow Surgery" in 2018, "Atlas of Advanced Shoulder Arthroscopy" in 2018, "Orthopedic Surgery Clerkship: A Quick Reference Guide for Senior Medical Students" in 2017, "Operative Techniques in Sports Medicine" in 2017, and "Sports Injuries: Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation" in 2014. She has also penned myriad articles for esteemed medical journals such as the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, Academic Psychiatry, the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the European Journal of Applied Physiology, and the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research, among others.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Wolf has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. Dr. Wolf was a member of the University of Connecticut Women's Club Volleyball team and served as Treasurer from 2007-2009. She received the New England Women's Volleyball Club League (NWVCL) All-Star award in 2007, 2008, and 2009. She also has been certified as a scorekeeper and line judge for the Professional Association of Volleyball Officials (PAVO) from 2006 to 2012, as well as a USA Volleyball referee from 2005 to 2014.

In addition to her primary vocation, Dr. Wolf remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She has maintained involvement with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as chair of the research committee and on their executive board since 2017, having previously served on their education committee from 2016 to 2017. She was also active with the American Medical Student Association in many posts between 2009 and 2012, including as chair and grassroots coordinator for the wellness and student life action committee as well as secretary and IFMSA chair for the School of Medicine chapter of the University of Pittsburgh. Likewise, Dr. Wolf is a member of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and the Connecticut Orthopedic Society, for which she still contributes to their board of directors.

Dr. Wolf is further associated with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the American College of Sports Medicine and the Association of American Medical Colleges. Having excelled in numerous coordination and representative roles for the University of Pittsburgh between 2009 and 2012, she previously lent her skills and resources to the New England Women's Volleyball Club League at the University of Connecticut from 2007 to 2009. Additionally, Dr. Wolf has been a notable member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Golden Key International Honour Society, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman's Honors Society and the Alpha Beta Epsilon Fraternity of Biology Majors, the latter of which she represented as alumni chair from 2006 to 2009.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Wolf has accrued several accolades throughout her impressive career. She has been presented with multiple grants, including the Resident Clinician Scientist Training Grant from the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation and the University of Connecticut Founder's Endowment in 2017 and 2018, the Honors Thesis Research Grant from the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Life Sciences Research Grant from 2008 to 2009. She also has received multiple scholarships, including a New England Scholarship from the University of Connecticut in 2006, an Honors Scholarship from the University of Connecticut in 2009, an Academic Scholarship from A. Tenenbaum Company, Inc., from 2005 to 2009, a Resident Program Scholarship from the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society in 2016, and an Annual Meeting Scholarship from The Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society in 2018. Dr. Wolf was honored by the University of Connecticut with inclusion on the Dean's List from 2005 to 2009, a Sophomore Honors Certificate in 2007, and recognition as a Graduate and Education Outstanding Resident in 2017.
