BUFFALO, NY, August 01, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Gary Earl Ross with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Gary Ross celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A prolific playwright, poet, and author Mr. Ross celebrates more than 40 years as a language arts educator. Mr. Ross started reading at an early age and decided to become a writer when he read Ray Bradbury's "R is for Rocket" at age 10. His father gave him his first typewriter and he sold his first story in his freshman year of college. Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Ross obtained a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts, both from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He began his career as a secondary English teacher with Buffalo Public Schools. Today, Mr. Ross holds the title of professor emeritus at the University at Buffalo. Throughout his career, he has authored more than 200 short stories, poems, articles, scholarly papers, and public radio essays. An accomplished playwright, his plays have been performed throughout the United States and in Canada, England, China, India, and Kazakhstan.

His plays include The Mark of Cain, The Scavenger's Daughter, The Trial of Trayvon Martin, and the Edgar-award winning Matter of Intent. His books include Blackbird Rising, Nickel City Blues, and the forthcoming Nickel City Crossfire.

Civically, Mr. Ross has been active in his local theater community as board member, resident playwright, and board president of Ujima Company, Inc., and currently as the associate artistic director of the Subversive Theatre Collective. His professional accomplishments in education and theater have been recognized by numerous organizations, including the North American Actors' Association, the Saltonstall Foundation, the Mystery Writers of America, the Buffalo Arts Council, the New York State Associated Press, and the New York State Broadcasters' Association. Mr. Ross attributes his many successes to the mentors he encountered throughout his education, which includes Suzette Livziey and Elizabeth Neuschel, his high school teachers who took him seriously as a young writer; Leslie Feidler, who taught his first college courses; and Carlene Hatcher Polite, a novelist who supervised his undergraduate independent study. Because he was greatly influenced by his teachers and professors, Mr. Ross is most proud of his contributions as an educator when his students go on to teach English after taking his courses. In order to remain adept in his field, Mr. Ross has maintained affiliation with the Just Buffalo Literary Center, the Mid-Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association, the Association of Teaching Artists, the Niagara Erie Writers, and the United University Professions.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Gary Earl Ross has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
