Just two hours from where she was born in Kings Creek, KY, she enjoyed 26 years in the field. She also completed postgraduate studies in elementary education at Union College several years later and received a postgraduate certificate in elementary education. During her career, Ms. Pearce authored a handbook for paraprofessionals and teacher assistants. She is a former member of Kiwanis International and the Order of the Eastern Star. The recipient of a Hanna Smith Honors Award in 1987, and an award from Strathmore Who's Who in 2000, she has also been cited in Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals and Who's Who in American Education. Known for visiting area schools and doing oral storytelling for the children, Ms. Pearce loves to remain active in her field. She also loves to create artwork, do interior decorating and flower arranging, as well as read, travel and spend time with her husband, James Robert Pearce.
