James Robert Marsh Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Marsh has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of local government

LAS VEGAS, NV, August 06, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present James Robert Marsh with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Marsh celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Retired after serving 20 years as the Chief Pretrial Services Officer for the District of Nevada, Mr. Marsh also served a total of 28 years for the United States Court System as a United States Probation Officer for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan at Detroit and the Northern District of Texas at Dallas. He also previously served as a Circuit Court Probation Officer for the Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac, Michigan from 1970 to 1976. Originally planning to become a police officer after college, Mr. Marsh was required to change his career path as he suffered from white coat hypertension, choosing corrections as an alternative.

Upon becoming chief in Nevada, Mr. Marsh was responsible for establishing the first pretrial services agency in the Federal district of Nevada. When a person was arrested on a Federal offense his office would interview the defendant and assist the court in determining if they should be released or detained pending disposition in their case. If released, his office would supervise the defendant for the court until resolution of the case. Selected from 79 other applicants, at only 37 years old Mr. Marsh became one of the youngest chiefs in the Federal Court System. During his career spanning almost 35 years, he was also responsible for negotiating the first union contract with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees in 1975 with Oakland County. Furthermore, he was nominated for the prestigious Director's Award with the United States Courts in 1993.

Previously he served as a regional representative for the Chief's Management Council, chairman of the Pretrial Services Committee, and co-chairman of the Pretrial Services Supervision Task Force, all in Washington, D.C. Most recently, he volunteered as a mediator for Clark County's Neighborhood Justice Center, President of Board of Directors for Ardiente Homeowners' Association and the Ann-Losee Homeowners' Association. Mr. Marsh also served on the Board of Directors of the Tanglewood Homeowners' Association, President of the Bonanza High School Football Booster Club, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Help Center Drug Program, and President of the Oakland County Corrections Association.

Mr. Marsh earned a Bachelor of Science in police administration at Michigan State University in 1969 and a Master of Arts in sociology at the University of Detroit, with a certificate in correctional science in 1974. Inspired by his career to write, Mr. Marsh authored and co-authored several articles.

Mr. Marsh is currently working on his first book, titled "In Service of the Court," which will be based on his career. In retirement, he also enjoys playing golf and traveling and is a longtime member of Canyon Ridge Christian Church. Notably, Mr. Marsh has been cited in the 23rd through the 25th editions of Who's Who in the West.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, James Robert Marsh has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
