Supported by 60 years of professional experience, Dr. Bell serves as professor emeritus at the University of Connecticut, where he has also worked as professor, associate professor, and director for the Polymer Science Program. Additionally, he lends his industry knowledge to the Institute of Materials Science as associate director. Earlier in his career, he honed his skills in the field through his roles with Monsanto Chemical, and the DuPont Co. While he was in high school, he took a career entrance exam that gave him three possible paths for a career, one of which was chemical engineering. Dr. Bell's academic family tree also boasts a number of German founders of the science of chemistry, so his aptitude for the field literally runs in his blood.

An expert in his field, Dr. Bell holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Lehigh University, and a Doctor of Science in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. One of the highlights of his career has been having five of his Ph.D. students serving as head of their departments in institutions all over the world. Notably, he has also contributed his wide breadth of knowledge to 260 industry articles, including 25 book chapters. He holds 12 patents. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he has affiliated himself with the Adhesion Society, where he has was President and Society Fellow. He was also active in the Society of Plastics Engineers, and the American Chemical Society. In the coming years, Dr. Bell intends to continue parlaying his knowledge of the field younger colleagues.
