Yvonne Rose Masakowski, Ph.D., Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    STONINGTON, CT, August 14, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Yvonne Rose Masakowski, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Masakowski is an associate professor of strategic leadership and leadership development in the College of Leadership and Ethics at the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, RI. Accepting the position four years ago, she had previously served as the CNO Science Advisor at the CNO Strategic Studies Group (CNO SSG) between 2003 and 2005 at the NWC. Originally planning to pursue a career as a clinical psychologist, after heeding the advice of her academic mentor who was involved conducting Navy research at Bell Laboratories, it changed the direction of Dr. Masakowski's future significantly.

In previous years, Dr. Masakowski was the Lead, Human Factor psychologist in the Advanced Concepts Division at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC). She also served as the first Associate Director, Human Factors with the Office of Naval Research in London, England, where she led the US/UK program on Technologies for Optimized Manning and developed numerous Science and Technology programs, organized and led international conferences and sponsored international research scientific exchange between the US and foreign nation partners such as The Czech Republic, France, Poland, Germany, et al. She began her research career as a research psychologist with the Naval Submarine Medical Research Center in Groton, CT. Her work has led to the contribution of multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals and chapters to three books. She was also tan editor of the "Cognitive Engineering and Decision Making Journal" and was a co-editor of "Decision Making in Complex Environments." She is currently writing and editing a book on "The Evolution of 21st century Warfare: Artificial Intelligence and Future Global Security".

A longtime member of several professional organizations, including the Human Factors and Ergonomics Association, the European Factors and Ergonomics, and was selected as a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects, London, Dr. Masakowski formerly served as the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) US Representative to The Technical Cooperation Program's (TTCP) on two of their panels: 1) TTCP Maritime Systems Command and Control and 2) TTCP Human Factors Panel between 1998 and 2015 and as the U.S. chair for TTCP HUM TP 9/18 between 2010 and 2015. She was appointed by OSD and currently serves as the U.S. chair for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization- the NATO Human Factors and Medicine Panel on Leader Development for NATO Multinational Military Operations, a position she has held since 2015 and will maintain this position through 2020. Locally, Dr. Masakowski was known for her volunteer work as a religious education teacher at St. Lawrence Church in Killingworth, CT, between 1982 and 1991.

Dr. Masakowski is the recipient of The Czech Republic's highest military honor, The Cross of Merit, for her scientific contributions during this nation's transition from a Partner for Peace nation to a NATO member. She was honored and decorated by Ambassador Martin Palous at a ceremony held in her honor at the Czech Republic Embassy in Washington, DC in 2002. She has also received a Scientific Achievement Medal from the Air Force of Poland in 2001, a Medal for Scientific Achievement from the Minister of Defense in France in 2000, and a Merit Medal from the French Defense Department in 2001, among other honors. Notably, Dr. Masakowski has been highlighted in the sixth edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and the 59th edition of Who's Who in America.

Dr. Masakowski holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, a Master of Arts in psychology from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy from The City University of New York, and a Diploma in Foreign Policy and National Security from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Seminar XXI. Married to Daniel Masakowski, Dr. Masakowski and he share two children. A big fan of the arts, she loves music, plays the violin, enjoys the ballet and the opportunity to attend the opera. She has also participated in choral singing for over twenty years.
