For many years, Dr. Kern has excelled in the field of medicine. Years after earning his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Munich, he began working as a director in the Department of Pathology at the Hospital of Good Samaritan in Los Angeles, California. Over the years, Dr. Kern gained valuable expertise with the hospital working as chairman of the medical staff and as trustee as well.
In addition to his work with the hospital, Dr. Kern served on the board of directors as vice chairman of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was inspired to pursue a career in the field because of a ruptured appendix he had as a child. Dr. Kern was in the hospital for about a month and a half, and he was very impressed by the doctors that took care of him.
Licensed to practice medicine in California and Ohio, Dr. Kern affiliates himself with the American Society of Cytopathology, through which he earned the Papanicolaou Award, the Los Angeles Society of Pathologists and the Los Angeles Academy of Medicine in order to remain aware of changes in the field. Throughout his many years in the field, one of the highlights that has stood out most has been the publishing of nearly 100 papers, and teaching workshops all over the world. For his excellence in the field, Dr. Kern has been recognized with features in the 23rd and 24th editions of Who's Who in the West.
