Betsy Ann Whitenight Strunk Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Whitenight Strunk has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of education

WEST CHESTER, PA, August 22, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Betsy Ann Whitenight Strunk with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Strunk celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Retiring from education in 2005 after more than 40 years, Ms. Strunk concluded her career with the Rose Tree Media School District in Pennsylvania. Teaching elementary school as well as college students, she began her second career in academia as an adjunct professor at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA, between 1981 and 1986, followed by one year at Delaware County Community College in 1986, and 12 years at Drexel University between 1989 and 2001. She also taught for 20 years for Performance Learning Systems, Inc., in Emerson, NJ, and Nevada City, CA, beginning in 1981. Furthermore, she spent two years as the director of ground school education at Brandywine Airport in West Chester, PA, beginning in 1986.

Working with Performance Learning Systems, Inc., and teaching teachers and graduate courses were some of the highlights of Ms. Strunk's career. She learned as much from her students as they learned from her. While working at the airport, she interacted with many of the pilots, taught private pilot courses and even got her pilot's license. She also designed aviation courses and taught private pilot courses at Delaware County Community College. Connected to what were called "master teachers" throughout the United States, Ms. Strunk would often get together with other teachers to share ideas, design new courses and talk about other relevant topics in education. Her career was as exciting as it was rewarding. Outside of education, she has been the current owner and designer of Stitches of Love in Savannah, GA, since 2006 and owns Whitenight Homestead Partnership.

Ms. Strunk was a project director for video documentaries, including "Learning through Live Events" and "Teaching Skills for the 21st Century" in 1995. She also served as editor and chairperson for the Deerfield Knoll Quarterly Newsletter from 1999 to 2003 and contributed various articles to peer-reviewed journals during her tenure. She spent years on various educational committees, was an education liaison between senior citizens and learning support students at Lima Estates Retirement Home and Glenwood Elementary School, and was a member of the governing board for the Southeastern Teacher Leadership Center at West Chester University, among other roles. Furthermore, Ms. Strunk has been a longtime member of multiple organizations such as the Rose Tree Media Education Association, where she served as a professional development committee chairperson, the National Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. A big advocate of volunteerism, Ms. Strunk is currently active with the Savannah Sing Along, the American Red Cross and the Brandywine River Museum. Over the past 40 years, she has also been active with various community groups, including at churches, nurseries and elementary schools, and various non-profits.

The recipient of a Fine Arts in Special Education grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education between 1993 and 1994, Ms. Strunk has also received several awards for her photography, including a First Place in the color division in photography at Bloomsburg State Fair and at the Pennsylvania Colonial Plantation. She has been highlighted in approximately 25 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who of American Women.

Ms. Strunk earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Bloomsburg University and Master of Education from West Chester University, and completed postgraduate coursework at Wilkes University, St. Joseph's University, Drexel University and McDaniel College. She is certified to teach the mentally and physically handicapped through Pennsylvania State University, is certified to teach elementary education and special education and is a certified single engine private pilot. Of all Ms. Strunk's achievements in life and work, her two biggest accomplishments were parenting her two sons. Enjoying her retirement, when she isn't busy doing volunteer work, she loves to read, write, knit and work on interior decorating. She also loves to walk and work in her garden.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Betsy Ann Whitenight Strunk has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
