AUSTIN, TX, August 23, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Great Depression, an iconic period in U.S. history and culture, comes alive through the eyes of a child in this collection of ten entertaining biographical stories and illustrations that portray life at home, work, school and play in the 1930s in Dickens County, Texas.

Nelda Bedford Gaydou, who grew up in Argentina as a missionary kid, has always been inspired by her family. While writing her parents' biography, she realized her father remembered his childhood with such vivid and amazing detail, that the stories he told combined with the important events he witnessed, deserved to be preserved. From that moment the idea for this charming, nostalgic chapter-book was born!

The prodigious memories of the author's 91-year-old father become the source of the award-winning book. The delightful illustrations are by none other than Sabrina Bedford, the author's niece, and the protagonist's granddaughter. This award-winning chapter book, complete with a complimentary extended study guide with the purchase of a book, is a must-have for any classroom or library for especially during the back-to-school season.

King of the Hill is available just about wherever books are sold including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Progressive Rising Phoenix Press. To obtain a copy of the illustrations or to receive a copy of an extended study guide (grades 3-6 and 6-8) for FREE with purchase of the book, please visit the publisher's website: www.progressiverisingphoenix.com
