A reputable and venerable educator and health care professional, Dr. Kipshidze has amassed more than four decades of experience in his areas of expertise. Throughout his career, he has held a number of academic appointments, including as a visiting, assistant and associate professor of medicine and surgery in the department of cardiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin between 1995 and 1999, director of physiology and pharmacology at Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute from 1999 to 2004, director of catheter and molecular interventions at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation from 1999 to 2004, and a consultant and cardiologist at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation from 2005 to 2007.

Likewise, Dr. Kipshidze has held several administrative responsibilities, including as the chief executive officer at New York Cardiovascular Research since 2006 and a consultant and cardiologist at New York Cardiovascular Research since 2013. Spending the majority of his career in clinical settings, he commenced his vocation as a senior clinical and research scientist in the department of invasive cardiology and cardiovascular surgery at the Bakulev Institute from 1982 to 1992, and a director of the Catheterization Laboratory at the Bakulev Institute from 1991 to 1992. From 1993 to 1995, he was a project researcher in the department of cardiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and he served as an associate attending physician at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital from 1995 to 1999. A visiting attending physician at Lenox Hill Hospital from 2001 to 2006, he was the former associate director of clinical research and the director of preclinical research in the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute from 2004 to 2006.

In addition to his academic, administrative and clinical responsibilities, Dr. Kipshidze has participated in a number of international professional activities especially in his native Georgia, including as director of the department of gene therapy in the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Therapy from 1999 to 2006, assistant dean of State Medical University from 2006 to 2013, and general director and physician in chief of N. Kipshidze Central University Hospital from 2006 to 2013. Furthermore, he was the chief of medical services of President of Georgia from 2006 to 2013, and a member of the Georgia Parliament from 2012 to 2016.

Alongside his primary endeavors, Dr. Kipshidze has been a scientific consultant of the Metro Hospital and Heart Institute, New Delhi, India since 1998, visiting professor of Athens University since 2006, a member of credentialing for the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions since 2001, a grant reviewer for National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD since 1997 and a special advisor for the Israeli Science Foundation since 2005, ,and the International Mentoring Program with the American Heart Association since 2006. Furthermore, he has been a participant in the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology since 2005, and he has held postdoctoral fellowships program reviewer in science, engineering and technology through the Israeli Heart Foundation since 2004. Dr. Kipshidze has also been a reviewer and member of the National Science Foundation since 2009. Equally passionate about his community, Dr. Kipshidze was a member of the New York Historical Society in 2003, the Metropolitan Museum in 2001, and the Sierra Club in 2000.

Dr. Kipshidze's major interests include cardiovascular research, patient care and education in the subspecialty of interventional medicine. He has been involved in all aspects of biomedical research, including device prototyping, medical engineering, experimental physiology, molecular biology, gene therapy, stem cell therapy, animal modeling, pharmacology and biomaterials, and nanotechnology among others. Notably, his research has led to the pioneering of several techniques to treat cardiovascular disease, has served as principal investigator for number of clinical trials, and he has co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 400 abstracts. In addition, he holds more than 30 United States and international patents in the field.

In addition to his publications, Dr. Kipshidze is the recipient of a number of federal and private organization research grants. He has performed over 7,000 interventional procedures. Dr. Kipshidze has also served as Director or Co-Director and faculty member of more than 50 international educational programs in areas of interventional medicine. He traveled to many countries delivering lectures and talks in different areas of cardiovascular medicine.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Kipshidze pursued a formal education at Tbilisi State Medical School, where he earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1975. He subsequently attended the Bakulev Institute, where he received a Doctor of Philosophy in cardiology and Doctor of Science in 1982 and 1989, respectively. He has been licensed to practice medicine in both USSR and the United States, and he is also licensed in cardiology and interventional cardiology in Georgia.

A prolific author and editor, Dr. Kipshidze serves as editorial board member of a number of scientific journals, has edited the "Principles of Interventional Cardiology" in 2017, "Textbook of Urgent Interventional Therapy" in 2014, "Textbook of Interventional Cardiovascular Pharmacology" in 2007, and "Handbook of Cardiovascular Cell Transplantation" in 2005, among others. Similarly, he has contributed more than 20 chapters to such books as "Cardiac Catheterization, Coronary and Peripheral Angiography and Interventional Procedures" in 2009, "RNA Technologies in Cardiovascular Medicine and Research" in 2008, and "Handbook of Drug-Eluting Stents" in 2005.

In an effort to remain aware of recent changes within the health care industry, Dr. Kipshidze has maintained affiliation with several organizations, including the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, the International Society of Cardiovascular Interventions, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association. He is additionally an honored member of the International Union of Angiology, the Cuban Society of Cardiology, the Ecuadorian Society of Lymphology, the Latin American Society of Angiology, and the Greek Society of Angiology. Notably, he has been named a fellow of numerous other societies, including the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, the American College of Angiology, and the International College of Angiology, among several others.

In light of his exceptional achievements in medicine, Dr. Kipshidze has accrued dozens of accolades throughout his impressive career. Named to several editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in America, he was also listed in Strathmore's Who Who as a lifetime member and won the International Peace Prize. Named one of America's Top Cardiologists multiple times throughout his career, he was also considered among the Greatest Geniuses of the 21st Century in Medicine and Surgery and Great Minds of the 21st Century.
