In 2004 and 2005, Dr. Louis Walk was named one of America's Top Family Doctors by the American Consumer Research Council.

GRAND-ISLAND, NE, August 31, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Louis Walk with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Walk celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Walk, a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice, began his 51-year-career in medicine with the medical department of the United States Army from 1967 to 1975 after prior service with the United States Army from 1953 to 1956 in Germany and overlapping service as as medical doctor in Special Forces from 1969 to 1970 in Vietnam. He worked as a resident in family medicine at William Beaumont Medical Center in El Paso, Texas from 1970 to 1973. After completing his residency, he had a solo family practice clinic in Silvis, Illinois from 1975 to 1996. Since 1997, Dr. Walk has practiced as a physician in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, and Nebraska. Between 2001 and 2015, he worked at the Employer Health Care Clinic. He retired from the Army Reserve in 1996 as a Brigadier General.

Prior to his professional career, Dr. Walk got his Bachelor of Science from Drake University in 1953 followed by his Master of Science from Drake University in 1958. Eight years later, in 1966, he earned his Doctor in Osteopathy from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, which is now known as Des Moines University. He taught science in a Des Moines, IA school from 1956 to 1962. He spent the summers of 1958-1960 working toward a Ph.D. in Science at Colorado State University.

In addition to his long career in the medical field, Dr. Walk was on the board of directors for the Illini Hospital in Silvis, Illinois from 1986 to 1989. In 2004 and 2005, he was named one of America's Top Family Doctors by the American Consumer Research Council and he has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America. Dr. Walk also holds membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Association of Military Surgeons of the US, the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, the VFW, American legion, and the AOA.

Dr. Walk was inspired to get into the health care industry by seeing his father's failing health as a child. Later in his life, as a science teacher in a public school, he credits his mother's inspiration and support, despite not having a medical background herself, with helping to set him on the path that has lead to a long and successful career in family medicine. Today, he finds working with children to be the most inspiring highlight of his career and finds joy in the often unique things that children say. Dr. Walk has two children of his own, David and Neal, with his wife Kathleen, as well as a granddaughter, Shaleigh and three grandsons.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Walk has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
