Arthur Leonard Tuggy supervised the work of missionaries in Asia, traveling from Japan and the Far East to Jordan in the Middle East.

A retired religious organization administrator, Dr. Tuggy served as the director of Asia Ministries, Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society, in Wheaton, Ill. for 20 years between 1974 and 1994. In his role, he supervised the work of missionaries in Asia, traveling from Japan and the Far East to Jordan in the Middle East. A former missionary through the Society as well, he spent 15 years in the Philippines before he was asked to serve as their director.
A former chairman of the Cooperating Home Boards of the Union Biblical Seminary of India in Wheaton from 1990 to 1991, Dr. Tuggy remains active as a longtime member of the American Society of Missiology. He is the author of "The Philippine Church" in 1971, "Iglesia ni Cristo" in 1976 and "The Gospel of John: An Inductive Study" in 1986. He is also the co-author of "Seeing the Church in the Philippines" in 1972.
Dr. Tuggy received an undergraduate degree at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1953 and Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary in 1956, followed by a Master of Theology and Doctor of Missiology at the School of World Mission in 1968 and 1974, respectively. He was ordained to ministry by the Conservative Baptist Church in 1957. The recipient of The Donald Anderson McGavran Award in 1974, he has been highlighted in the fourth edition of Who's Who in Religion.
Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Tuggy later arrived in the U.S. in 1932 and married his wife Jeannette Lenora Stokes in January 1953 who has since passed away. He is the proud father of three successful children, Stephen, an attorney, Michael, a doctor of family medicine, and Lynette, the owner of a music studio. Residing in a senior residence, Dr. Tuggy remains active by conducting bible study and an astronomy club on site.
