An accomplished listee, Dr. Mollenkott celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. An accomplished English literature and language educator as well as an avid supporter of the LGBT community, Dr. Mollenkott has dedicated her career to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. Her passion for religion, women's rights and LGBT rights compelled her to speak and write on those subjects. Currently, Dr. Mollenkott has served as professor emeritus for William Paterson University since 1997.

Always interested in interested in what compels people to behave in the ways they do, Dr. Mollenkott had believed she would pursue psychology. Attending psychology classes, she found that she was not interested in the scientific aspect of the field, discovering instead that she preferred focusing on the ways in which humans interacted with one another and how they thought about the world. Following her first English literature course, Dr. Mollenkott knew she would teach English.

Specializing in 17th century English literature, Dr. Mollenkott graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Bob Jones University in 1953. Following this accomplishment, she obtained a Master of Arts from Temple University in 1955 and a Doctor of Philosophy from New York University in 1964. Dr. Mollenkott has held an honorary Doctor in Ministries from Samaritan College since 1989.

Dr. Mollenkott has spent much of her career teaching at various institutions. She has lent her time and talents to William Paterson University, serving as the chair of the English department from 1972 to 1976 and professor of English from 1967 to 1997. Dr. Mollenkott held the positions of English department chair at both Nyack College from 1963 to 1967 and Shelton College from 1955 to 1963.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Mollenkott has made use of her excellent understanding of writing and human relationships, holding positions on various publications and committees. She has worked as a contributing editor for both The Other Side from 2003 to 2005, The Witness from 1994 to 2000 and again from 2002 to 2003. Additionally, she has held the roles of manuscript evaluator for the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion at Cambridge, MA, since 1994 and member of the advisory board program on gender and society at Rochester Divinity School since 1993.

Furthermore, Dr. Mollenkott worked at the Upper Room AIDS Ministry in Harlem, NY, from 1989 to 1994. She held membership on the board of directors of Pacem in Terris, both in Warwick, NY, and at the Kirkridge Conference Center in Bangor, PA, from 1980 to 1991. She has held positions on the translation committee with the Inclusive Language Lectionary for the National Council Churches from 1980 to 1988, as the stylistic consultant for the New International Version of the Bible with the American Bible Society from 1970 to 1978. Dr. Mollenkott has also worked as the assistant editor of Seventeenth Century News in New York City from 1965 to 1975.

The author of many creative works and a contributor to scholarly journals, Dr. Mollenkott has co-written several works. She lent her writing expertise to the iconic "Is the Homosexual My Neighbor? A Positive Christian Response," which won the Integrity Award in 1979, as well as "The Divine Feminine: Biblical Imagery of God as Female," "Speech, Silence, Action." Additionally, Dr. Mollenkott has written the introduction to Paul King Jewett's theological book "Man as Male and Female."

Dr. Mollenkott's other works include, but are not limited to, "Sensuous Spirituality: Out from Fundamentalism," "Godding: Human Responsibility and the Bible," and "Views from the Intersection." Furthermore, she has written "Adamant and Stone Chips," "In Search of Balance," "Women, Men and the Bible," "Transgender Journeys," and "Omnigender: A Trans-Religious Approach," which won both the Lambda Literary Award and Ben Franklin Award in 2002. Dr. Mollenkott has worked as an editor for the anthologies "Women of Faith in Dialogue" in 1987 and "Adam Among the Television Trees" in 1971.

Recognized for both her literary prowess and her contributions to LGBT rights, Dr. Mollenkott has received several awards. She has been awarded the Lambda Literary Award for Transgender/Bisexual Work in 2001 and the New Jersey Lesbian and Gay Lifetime Achievement Award 1992. Additionally, Dr. Mollenkott has been presented the Lifetime Achievement Award from Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Elders in 1999 and the Mother Eagle Award from Christian Feminist Today and the Q Christian Fellowship in 2017.

Dr. Mollenkott has lent her time to other organizations, serving as the Recording Secretary for the Cedar Crest Democratic Club since 2008. She holds membership with the Modern Language Association, serving on the executive committee of religion and literature from 1976 to 1980. Dr. Mollenkott also serves as an associate for the Women's Institute for Freedom of Press and has been on the executive committee of the Milton Society of America from 1974 to 1976.

When she first came out as a lesbian, Dr. Mollenkott had received negative attention from some evangelicals, who rejected her and attempted to eradicate her works. In 1974, she gave the first women's liberation speech at Malone College in Ohio but had faced protests from some students there who brought newspapers to the chapel, loudly rattling the pages while she was speaking. Nevertheless, Dr. Mollenkott has enjoyed a successful career, receiving many positive letters with wonderful praise.

Never allowing her voice to be silenced, Dr. Mollenkott has delivered many speeches over the course of her career. She has spoken at the first conference of evangelical feminists at the conservative Baptist Theological Seminary in Denver in 1973 and the first national gathering of the Evangelical Women's Caucus in Washington, D.C., in 1975. She has delivered speeches at almost every gathering of the organization over the succeeding 40 years.

Dr. Mollenkott has held a leadership role on the Sisterly Conversations gathering held every September at Kirkridge Retreat Center, retiring due to her arthritis disability in 2013. She enjoys her son and three grandchildren, fondly remembering her partner, the late Judith Suzannah Tilton. Dr. Mollenkott has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
