With more than 56 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Sciame has worked as the vice president for community relations at St. John's University since 2002. Prior to these appointments, he held multiple positions at St. John's University as vice president for government and community relations from 1994 to 2002, vice president of financial aid and student information services from 1982 to 1994, dean of financial aid in 1982, and director of financial aid from 1971 to 1982. Mr. Sciame began his career as an assistant to registrar, financial aid officer, and assistant to the dean of admissions at St. John's University from 1967 to 1971.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Sciame pursued an education at St. John's University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education in 1971, and pursued graduate studies thereafter. Previously, Mr. Sciame enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964, serving until his honorable discharge in 1967 and awarded the Army Commendation Medal.

Beyond his efforts within the field, Mr. Sciame has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. The chairman of the Conference of Major Italian American Organizations from 2011 to 2016, he has been on the board for the Queens Symphony Orchestra since 2000, the Boy Scouts of America since 2000, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce since 1998, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc. from 2006 to 2013 and 2015-18, and the Harriet and Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center and Archives since 2002. A guest chef for the Queens Centers for Progress in 2014, Mr. Sciame has also contributed to the American Delegation of Savoy's Order as a vice delegate since 2010, the Boy Scouts of America as the vice president of membership from 2001 to 2007, the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association as president from 1980 to 1982, and the Eastern Association Student Financial Aid Administrators as president from 1986 to 1987, and National Chair of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators from 1987-88.

Mr. Sciame has held multiple roles for the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum, including as national chairman of the board of directors from 1987 to 1993 and from 1997 to 1999, president and chief executive officer from 1999 to 2007, and CEO since 2011. He additionally served on the Governor's Committee on Scholastic Achievement as a member since 1971 and as a chairperson 1993-2015, the Board of Ethics of the Town of North Hempstead, NY, as a member since 1975 and as a chairperson since 1984 to the present time, and Providence Rest as a member since 1995 and as a chairperson of its foundation from 2007 to 2009. The chairman of the Harriet and Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center and Archives from 2008 to 2011, Mr. Sciame was elected to the board of directors of St. John's Preparatory School since 1996 and the Italian Heritage & Culture Committee since 1976, the latter of which he was been elected as president and chairman since 2007.

In addition to his primary trade, Mr. Sciame remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained involvement with the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association as national chairman, the Order Sons of Italy in America as national and state president, the Southern Queens Park Association as the chair, the Greater New York Councils of the Boy Scouts of America and the Queens Division of the New York Blood Center. He is also associated with the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce as a board member, the Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School as founder and chair, and the Eastern Association Student Financial Aid Administrators and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators as a lifetime member. Mr. Sciame is also active as a member of the Italian Culture Center for St. John's University as its chair, and a member of Kappa Delta Pi, and the International Honor Society in Education.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Sciame has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. He has been presented with the Joseph Coccia Italian Language Award from UNICO in 2014, the Good Scout Award from the Queens Council of the Boy Scouts of America in 2013, the Noteworthy Award from the Richmond County Orchestra & Richmond Opera Company in 2013, the Foundation Award from the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce in 2013, and the Commander Award from the Order of San Tomas Apostolo in 2013. Earning a Stella Award from the Italian Language Inter-Cultural Alliance in 2012, he was honored as a Hall of Fame inductee with the Power Memorial Academy Alumni Association in 2013, a Knight Grand Cross in the Order of Merit of the House of Savoy in 2018, a Cavaliero by the Order of St. Michael of the Wing of the House of Braganza in 2013, a Commander in the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy in 2018, and a Commander in the Order of SS of Maurice & Lazarus of the House of Savoy in 2015, and has received the Silver Cross of Merit from the House of Savoy. Mr. Sciame has also received the President's Medal in 1981, the St. Vincent de Paul Medal in 1986, the Pietas Medal in 1991, the Administrative Achievement Medal in 1995, and a Recognition Award in 2012, all from St. John's University.

A Bene Emeritus and a Hall of Fame inductee with the Grand Lodge of New York for the Order Sons of Italy in America, as well as inductee in the Italian American National Hall of Fame, Mr. Sciame has additionally obtained the Achievement Award from the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association, the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and the Record Award from the U.S. Congress in 1979, 1991, 1993, 1995 and 2015.
