Dr. Harvey Willenberg was Boeing's first scientist to travel to Russia to speak to the corporation who built the Mir space station.

A recognized and respected figure in both the nuclear engineering and the aerospace industries, Dr. Willenberg has amassed more than four decades of professional excellence in these areas of expertise. Officially retired from full-time vocational activity in 2004, he continues to perform consulting services for a variety of opportunities. Most recently serving as a chief scientist in the civil space division of Boeing Defense, Space and Security from 1989 to 2004, he previously acted as an engineering manager at The Boeing Company in Alabama from 1984 to 1989, a senior staff physicist at The Boeing Company in Washington from 1982 to 1984, a research scientist at Mathematic Sciences Northwest from 1979 to 1982, and a senior research engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory from 1976 to 1979. Dr. Willenberg commenced his career as an engineer at the Westinghouse-Hanford Corporation from 1972 to 1976.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Willenberg pursued a formal education at Harvey Mudd College, receiving a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1967. He subsequently entered the United States Army with the European Theater of Operations from 1968 to 1970. After his honorable discharge, Dr. Willenberg attended the University of Washington, where he earned a Master of Science in physics in 1971, a Master of Science in nuclear engineering in 1972, and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1976.

A contributor of myriad articles to professional journals, Dr. Willenberg maintains membership with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In light of his exceptional undertakings, he has been highlighted in the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest. However, the highlights of Dr. Willenberg's career were when he worked for the Westinghouse-Hanford Corporation, and they received a contract to build a nuclear breeder reactor and when he worked for Boeing as their Chief Scientist for the International Space Station contract.

Additionally, Dr. Willenberg is proud of his work performed with Boeing, where scientists were competing to get a contract to build the International Space Station. He was named chief scientist as the proposal was being written. Furthermore, Dr. Willenberg was Boeing's first scientist to travel to Russia to speak to the corporation who built the Mir space station.
