Coalition for Community Schools Celebrate Community School Coordinators During "Coordinators Appreciation Week"

Uplifting coordinators from across the country on September 24-28, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC, September 25, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Coalition for Community Schools, an alliance of local, state, and national partners, is excited to celebrate our second annual Coordinators Appreciation Week from September 24-28, 2018.

Community School Coordinators are the cornerstone of community schools. Coordinators create, strengthen, and maintain enduring relationships between the school and community. Community School Coordinators facilitate and provide leadership for the collaborative process and development of a continuum of services for children, families and community members within a school neighborhood. A Coordinator is often the "liaison" and "connector" for many different areas. Some of these include parent and family engagement, community engagement, youth development, health, mental health, afterschool programming, early childhood, workforce development, and aligning partnerships with academics.

"Community School Coordinators are superheroes, who harmoniously bridge the gap between the school and the community by organizing partnerships that support students and families in having an equitable and promising future. The Coalition is proud to mobilize our partners in recognizing Community School Coordinators for creating a place where students are safe, loved, and challenged," said José Muñoz, Director of the Coalition for Community Schools.

The Community School movement has grown across the country and internationally with more than 5,000 schools. Community School Coordinators are the people who push forward this movement and are the key to successful implementation. Without our Community School Coordinators, the bridge between the school and the community would not be nearly as strong.

Community School Coordinators Appreciation Week is hosted by the Coalition of Community Schools and its many partners to encourage individuals, schools, and community school initiatives to honor and thank their Community School Coordinators. This week will be full of public relations and social media efforts to lift up the role of Coordinators and let them know their work is seen and appreciated.

Community schools, school districts, and organizations across the country will view our Coordinators Appreciation Week Toolkit to help promote community school coordinators across the country.
