John Raymond Meinert Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Mr. Meinert celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With more than 65 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Meinert is currently retired, having most recently worked for the J.H. Chapman Group LLC as chairman from 1995 to 2012 and principal for investment banking from 1990 to 2012. Additionally, he has been recognized as chairman emeritus for Hart Schaffner & Marx/Hartmarx Corp since 1990. Previously elected in 1974, he had served Hart Schaffner & Marx/Hartmarx Corp as chairman from 1987 to 1990, senior vice chairman from 1985 to 1986, vice chairman from 1981 to 1985, and executive vice president from 1975 to 1980. Mr. Meinert began his career with Hart Schaffner & Marx/Hartmarx Corp in 1950, holding various positions between 1950 and 1990.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Meinert pursued an education at the University of Michigan, completing coursework from 1944 to 1945. He then served in the U.S. Army in 1945-46 and again in the Reserves in 1955-1958. He concluded his studies at Northwestern University in 1949, graduating with a Bachelor of Science. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Meinert has been certified as a public accountant in the state of Illinois since 1952. He is very proud of his two daughters, both Northwestern graduates, one the owner of a computer services firm with several dozen employees and the other a CPA.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Meinert has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He contributed to the board of directors for the County Seat Stores, Inc., from 1998 to 1999, the John Evans Club, the Better Business Bureau, the YMCA, and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. He found further success as a trustee of the Amalgamated Insurance Fund from 1980 to 1990 and the Rotary International Retirement Fund from 2000 to 2002. He also held the roles of instructor of accounting at Northwestern University in 1949, director of the Evanston Hospital from 1988 to 1994, and faculty member for the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management from 1994 to 1995. Since 1993, Mr. Meinert has been an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Meinert maintained involvement with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of the USA as president from 1982 to 1987 and chairman from 1987 to 1990. He was also active with the University of Illinois as chairman of the business advisory council from 1989 to 1990, on the financial accounting standards advisory council from 1989 to 1992, and on the council for foreign relations for Chicago Sister Cities International. Mr. Meinert currently serves on the Kellogg Leadership Circle Advisory Council for Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

In addition to his primary trade, Mr. Meinert remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was associated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as vice president from 1985 to 1986, on the board of directors from 1975 to 1978, on the council from 1971 to 1993, and trustee of the benevolent fund from 1992 to 1995. He has also been involved with the Illinois CPA Society as president from 1982 to 1983 and on the board of directors from 1966 to 1968 and from 1981 from 1984. Moreover, he was with Rotary International as president of the Chicago chapter from 1989 to 1990, foundation trustee from 1991 to 1995, and assistant district governor from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Meinert is a member of Community Presbyterian Church University Club of Chicago, and the Rolling Green Country Club.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Meinert has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. He was presented with a Gold Medal from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants at its Centennial in New York City in 1987, an Alumni Merit Award from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 1989, a Public Service Award from the Illinois CPA Society in 1996, and an Honorary Award from the Illinois CPA Society. In 1995, he was recognized as Humanitarian of the Year by the Five Hospital Foundation. Likewise, Mr. Meinert has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
