Joan McDevitt Matterson Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Matterson has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in physical therapy and rehabilitation

WILMINGTON, DE, October 19, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Joan McDevitt Matterson, BS, PT, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Matterson celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 40 years of experience, Ms. Matterson has worked in her private physical therapy practice throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware since 1974, as a pediatric/early intervention and school-age physical therapist since 1974, and with Hickory House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Honeybrook, PA since 2000. She previously held the positions of director of rehabilitation for Keystone Care Therapies in Media, PA from 1997 to 1999, rehabilitation director at Integrated Health Services in Smyrna, DE from 1993 to 1995, rehabilitation director at Achievement Rehabilitation in 1993, and with Home Health Services in 1982. Since a profit cannot be made from an investigational device, her time was dedicated without profit and was well-investigated by the federal government.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Matterson has participated in numerous endeavors in her community. She contributed to the American Biographical Research Institute as Deputy Governor, and she has held the role of advisory board member of the International Biographical Research Institute in Cambridge, England. Ms. Matterson found success as a lecturer in the field of low laser therapy for arthritis, pain management and wound healing. She received public speaking training from Dr. Fred Antil, USMC Colonel who instructed the Pentagon in public speaking, Delmar Wood, an instructor at NIH, and Robert Leaman, a president of Toastmasters.

Ms. Matterson was affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise including the National Association of Female Executives, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the International Platform Association, the American Academy of Pain Management, the Institute of Noetic Sciences, the American Board of Forensic Examiners, the North American Association for Laser Therapy, and the International Executive Service Corps.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Matterson pursued an education at Saint Joseph's University in 1973, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in biology. She concluded her studies with certification in physical therapy from University of Pennsylvania in 1974. In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Matterson was selected for inclusion in many editions of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
