Robert Farley Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    LITTLETON, CO, October 19, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Robert Farley with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Farley celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Mr. Farley began his career from 1958 to 1959, as Assistant to the Mayor in Corunna, Michigan. Following this appointment, he held the role of City Manager in Hudson, Michigan from 1959 to 1962. After this opportunity, he was active as assistant director of the supervisor's inter-county committee in Detroit, Michigan from 1962 to 1966.

Mr. Farley served as director of intergovernmental relations for the Metropolitan Fund Inc. in Detroit from 1966 to 1968. From 1968 to 1970, he worked as deputy executive director at the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments in Detroit, Michigan. He concluded his career as executive director of the Denver Regional Council Governments from 1970 until he retired in 1999.

In addition to his career, Mr. Farley was a member of the intergovernmental personnel advisory committee for the State of Colorado from 1977 to 1981 and a member of the advisory council for the Graduate School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado, Denver, from 1978 to 1981. In 1978, he held the roles of visiting lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin and distinguished public executive in residence at the University of Denver in Colorado. He was member of the policy board for the Urban Observatory in Denver, Colorado from 1971 to 1983.

During this time, Mr. Farley was also on the board of governors for the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver from 1971 to 1979 and the executive committee in 1976. From 1971 to 1973, he was member of the mayor's committee on the Platte Valley and the mayor's manpower and youth problems committees for the city and county of Denver, Colorado; and the advisory committee for the department of social planning with Mile High United Way. Mr. Farley served as a member of the capital improvements advisory committee for the Denver Water Board, the solid waste advisory committee for the National League of Cities and United States Conference Mayors, and the policy committee for Regional Emergency Medical Care in 1973.

Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Farley received his Associate of Arts from Jackson Junior College in Michigan in 1956. Following this achievement, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science, with honors, from Michigan State University in 1958. Mr. Farley concluded his education with a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado, in 1981.

From 1973 to 1979, Mr. Farley belonged to the metropolitan community service board for the Colorado Council of Churches and was vice chairman of the executive committee from 1974 to 1976 and 1978 to 1979. He was a member of the mayor's committee to keep Denver a great city from 1975 to 1976 as well. He contributed to the Colorado Association of Regional Organizations from 1977 to 1999 and the Junior League of Denver as a member of the community advisory committee from 1979 to 1984. He was a member of the advisory panel on urban impacts at the Charles F. Kettering Foundation in Dayton, Ohio in 1980; In 1982, Mr. Farley served on the Denver Metropolitan Area Leadership Development and Advocacy Program for the Mexican American Legal and Defense and Education Fund as a member of the advisory committee, 1988 to 1992 he was a member of the advisory committee of the Hispanic Agenda (LARASA); and from 1992 to 1993, he was chairman of the transportation and parking task team for the mayor of Denver's downtown agenda.

Mr. Farley belonged to the American Society for Public Administration and the National Association of Regional Councils. For the latter, he served on the board of directors from 1972 to 1975 and in 1993 and coordinator of presentations at the fifth International Conference on Regionalism in 1982, 1988 and 1994 and on the executive directors committee from 1972 to 1979, 1981 to 1995, among other positions. He has also held a number of positions with the International City Management Association.

In 1976, Mr. Farley was recipient of an Honorary Award from the Commission on Community Relations, and in 1978, he received the Award for Minority Career Development from the International City Management Association and the Executive Directors Regional Leadership Award from the National Association of Regional Councils. In 1987, he was honored with the Outstanding Contribution in Meetings Urban Problems Award from the Denver Federal Executive Board, and in 2013, he was named Distinguished Alumnus by Leslie High School in Michigan. Mr. Farley has previously been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in the West.
