An accomplished listee, Dr. Lenardon celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

While working towards his bachelor's degree in classics at the University of British Columbia (from which he would graduate with honors in 1949), Dr. Lenardon fell in love with the classical world. Motivated by this enthusiasm for ancient Greek, Latin, and ancient history, he went on to earn a Master's Degree in classics and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Cincinnati in 1950 and 1954, respectively. A remarkable educator, Dr. Lenardon had brought professional expertise to such institutions as New York University, where worked as a visiting professor in 1973 and from 1991 to 1992, and Siena College, where he was a professor as well as the head of the department of classics from 1992 to 1995.

Embarking upon his career, Dr. Lenardon initially worked as an instructor of Greek and Latin at Columbia University, where he stayed from 1954 to 1957. He then became an assistant professor of classics at the University of Washington in Seattle and a member of the classics department's faculty at the Ohio State University. Supplementing such positions as these, he served as a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia from 1960 to 1961 and in 1966. Dr. Lenardon also worked closely with Ohio State University, serving as a professor and director of graduate studies from 1969 to 1984 and retiring from his role of professor in 2012.

Dr. Lenardon's first book was "The Saga of Themistocles" (Thames and Hudson, 1978). He also co-wrote "Classical Mythology" (Oxford University Press, 11th Edition 2018) with Mark Morford and Michael Sham and "A Companion to Classical Mythology" (Oxford University Press, 2000) was co-authored with Mark Morford. Dr. Lenardon also served as a book review editor for the Classical Journal from 1961 to 1968.

He is in the process of writing a new history: "The Persian War Against the Greeks & the Athenian Hero Themistocles, A History For Today About the Victory of Democracy Over Tyranny" (to be published 2019).

Notable for his considerable contributions to the academic arena, Dr. Lenardon has been the recipient of numerous awards in his field, including the Visiting Distinguished Professor Award as given by the University of Louisville in 2001. He was also a visiting fellow at Corpus Christi College University of Cambridge in 1971 and a Taft Scholar and fellow at the University of Cincinnati from 1950 to 1954.
