A renowned bronze sculptor based in Weston, Mr. Nusbaum is best known for creating realistic hot-cast bronze animals. Pursuing education in the fine arts, he received a Bachelor of Arts from Muhlenberg College in 2013. Further, Mr. Nusbaum has dedicated his postgraduate life to sculpting, teaching, and mentoring young artists in his studio in Weston.
Mr. Nusbaum's commitment to fidelity is displayed in a unique technique he developed to highlight surface details. Viewers have reported as being so lifelike they appear to resemble the actual animal.
Mr. Nusbaum was inducted into the Silvermine Guild of Artists in 2016 as one of the youngest artists the guild has welcomed to their organization. In 2019, he was named to Connecticut Magazine's "Top 40 Under 40," World Wide Art Books' "International Contemporary Masters" and Contemporary Art Curator Magazine's "100 Artists of the Future." Additionally, Mr. Nusbaum was listed among World Wide Art Books' "Important World Artists" and has won numerous awards at the prestigious Red Dot Venue at Art Basel in Miami in 2018. He was also featured in Original Living Magazine's "A New Conceptual Art and Fashion" in 2018.
In addition to Mr. Nusbaum's various achievements, his work has been featured in galleries and exhibitions across the country. In Connecticut, he has been featured and selected as a member of the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan, the Greenwich Art Society in Greenwich, the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts in Mystic, the Stamford Art Association in Stamford, the Ridgefield Artist Guild in Ridgefield and the 2019 Guildford Craft EXPO in Guilford. Outside of his home state, Mr. Nusbaum's sculptures have been featured at Art Basel in Miami, Zenith Art and Fashion Gallery in Miami, the Mamaroneck Artist Guild in Mamaroneck in New York, the Martin Gallery in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the Limner Gallery in Hudson, New York, and displayed in The University of Connecticut Trophy Rooms in recognition of their dual National Championships.
A juried member of AreaArtist.com, Mr. Nusbaum attributes his success to the subject of his sculptures – animals. Additionally, he mentors and teaches drawing, painting and sculpting to public school students in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Mr. Nusbaum continues to conduct private lessons to people of all ages at his studio in Weston and also mentors numerous artists on how to navigate the art world, particularly in sculpting.
Having always been an outstanding athlete, many did not know of Mr. Nusbaum's capacity for artistic expression as he grew up. When he began college, his original plan laid in political science, with every intention of entering law school. While he was not practicing art, he quickly realized how much he missed it, which encouraged him to enroll in a sculpture class. It was in this class that Mr. Nusbaum rediscovered his passion for art, which led him to switch his major, and ultimately make a career out of his sculpting.
