Through caring for her father during his fight against lung cancer, Ms. Librea was inspired to pursue nursing as a career. Subsequently, it was during the passing of her late mother, who suffered from a blood disorder, that she realized the great value in caregiving. She then decided to co-find Angels Heart Home Care Services, which is certified through the California Department of Social Services. Backed by more than 20 years of professional expertise in emergency room nursing, Pinky focuses on providing clients with top-notch care at home through a personalized approach delivered by trustworthy and reliable caregivers. Alongside her work with Angels Heart, she continues to work as a clinical nurse at Highland Hospital, a well-respected teaching hospital and level 1 trauma center in Oakland, CA. During the early stages of her career, Ms. Librea gained valuable expertise in the healthcare industry as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She afterwards worked towards receiving licensure as a Registered Nurse and quickly learned to deal with the many challenges of urban-related healthcare issues within the Bay Area community.
As an expert in her field, Ms. Librea holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Maryknoll College in the Philippines. She went on to expand her knowledge by earning an associate's degree in Licensed Vocational Nursing through Merritt College in Oakland and later an Associate degree in Nursing from Excelsior University in New York. Likewise, Pinky is Board Certified in Emergency Nursing through BCEN, Trauma Nursing certified with the Emergency Nurses Association, and in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. She also has certification as a Director of Staff Development.
Driven to public service, Ms. Librea aligns herself with the Alcosta Senior & Community Center as an outreach sponsor amongst other various organizations and networking groups that work to further the interests of the growing elderly population. Over the course of her career, she volunteered as a medic tent nurse in several marathons and community events. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was also actively involved in mass testing and community education through the Help Test Bay Area initiative. Her role as a mentor and preceptor at Highland ED has been instrumental in preparing medical students and residents, nursing students and new graduates, EMTs, and paramedics in transitioning into their new role as healthcare providers.
While her career has been filled with highlights, Pinky takes the most pride in establishing Angels Heart Home Care Services. They have successfully catered to clients in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Joaquin, San Mateo, and recently expanded to Los Angeles, California. The cornerstone of her success lies in her status as an immigrant who came to the United States with just $150 to her name. Despite the many challenges, she remained motivated to succeed. Looking toward the future, she intends to create more jobs, help more families, and elevate the quality of in-home care to its highest level – making Angels Heart Home Care Services not only a household name but also a trusted staffing agency for all levels of healthcare facilities throughout the United States.
