Dr. James takes the most pride in working as a professor at Coastal Pines Technical College, where he witnessed his students rise to leadership positions and become the people they were meant to be.

An accomplished educator, leader, author, and speaker, Dr. James excels as the elected mayor of the City of Waycross and as a professor of sociology and job acquisition skills for Coastal Pines Technical College. He is also dedicated to the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., is a pastor at two churches, and devotes himself to Emmanuel's Bible College and Emmanuel's International Cathedral. Over the years, he has also worked for Toastmasters International as the H82 and H83 area directors, chapter president, and program quality trainer. During the early stages of his career, Dr. James gained valuable expertise as vice president of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia State and as a social studies and history teacher for Ware County High and Waycross High School.
Before establishing himself in education, Dr. James earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Troy University in 1988. Subsequently, he expanded his knowledge by completing a Master of Education in secondary education and teaching at Valdosta State University and an Ed.D. in education at Truth Bible College. Outside of his work, Dr. James has contributed to his community through the Salvation Army, the local Kiwanis Club, the Exchange Club of Waycross, the Ware County Children's Initiative, and the Georgia Municipal Association, where he sat on the advisory board of the equity, inclusion, and diversity committee.
Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. James has contributed to "Trust in God to Support Your Needs," "Leader, Can You Stand the Test," and "Just Because God Said It: A Journal of Prophetic Predictions and Pronouncements." Numerous awards have marked his career, including the Jack Williams Community Service Award from the Waycross Chamber of Commerce, the Distinguished Toastmaster and Kiwanian Awards, the Ted Harris Human and Spiritual Values Award from the Kiwanis Club of Waycross, and the Georgia Man of the Year Award. While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. James takes the most pride in working as a professor at Coastal Pines Technical College, where he witnessed his students rise to leadership positions and become the people they were meant to be.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Dr. James credits his success to putting his heart into everything he does. Ultimately, Dr. James aims to develop community projects that will benefit those around him, teach young people how to prepare themselves for jobs and obtain a role as a full-time professor.
