BJ Ellender Honored for Success in Multiple Fields

A celebrated and versatile figure in her respective fields, Ms. Ellender, was initially inspired toward her unique professional path by a nurse that she encountered in her youth while visiting her grandmother at the hospital. Comparing their white hats and nursing capes to the Angels of Mercy, she found herself quickly fascinated with nursing. In 1973, Ms. Ellender began her career as a nurse for critical care and clinical research, a position she maintained until 2016.

During this time, Ms. Ellender continued to refine her skills through her formal academic efforts at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1983 before graduating with a Master of Science in Nursing in 1986. Moreover, she obtained her license to practice as a realtor in 2006. Toward the conclusion of her tenure in nursing, Ms. Ellender branched out into healthcare administration as well, serving as the agency director for Coastal Companion Care between 2014 and 2016.

Ms. Ellender has found much success as a broker and realtor with Margaret Rudd & Associates since 2016. In this role, she assists property owners in the purchasing and sale of residential property to achieve the best result possible while simultaneously maintaining accurate transaction records and providing stellar customer service built on a foundation of transparency, communication, knowledge, integrity and accessibility. Upon shifting her focus to the real estate business in recent years, Ms. Ellender has furthered her expertise with a number of certifications, including an At Home with Diversity® certification, a Real Estate Negotiation Expert certification in 2019, and a Commitment to Excellence certification in 2021.

Beyond her primary responsibilities, Ms. Ellender has displayed an unwavering commitment to her community, having operated as church council for the Ocean View United Methodist Church since 2003. Furthermore, she has contributed to local beach cleanups since 2013, regional food drives since 2013, and as a member of her Moose Lodge since 2019. Her generosity and community-minded work has even extended to her post as the volunteer chair of healthcare for the Taiwanese Special Olympic Team. Likewise, Ms. Ellender has been affiliated with several industry-related organizations throughout her career, including the North Carolina Nurses Association in 1983, the American Nurses Association in 1983 and the Brunswick County Association of Realtors in 2016.

Ms. Ellender has been honored on multiple occasions for her outstanding results as a real estate agent. Previously presented with the Rising Star Award from Margaret Rudd & Associates, she was notably recognized among the Top 300 Producers by the Brunswick County Real Producers between 2020 and 2023. She was also spotlighted as the Volunteer of the Year by the Brunswick County Association of Realtors in 2023. Ms. Ellender has been proudly profiled in various esteemed publications as well, including Forbes Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Featured Agent Magazine.
