JOHNSTOWN, PA, February 25, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Paul V. Woolley, a physician in private practice, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Oncology and Hematology. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
Dr Woolley has more than 37 years of professional experience in healthcare, specializing in medical oncology and hematology. He received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Cornell University and an MD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1969. He did a residency in Internal Medicine at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City and thereafter completed two fellowships at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, one in molecular pharmacology and the second in clinical oncology and hematology. He was a professor of medicine and pharmacology at Georgetown University until 1992 and then moved to Johnstown, Pennsylvania as Director of the Laurel Highlands Cancer Program and clinical professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. He has published 135 papers and two books. Dr. Woolley is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has two children, Catherine and Kevin, and in his spare time enjoys travel, golf, skiing, scuba diving and piano. He is the fourth consecutive generation of physicians in his family. He is on the Board of Directors of the Johnstown Symphony and the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art.
