Owings Mills, MD, April 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Crystal Carlisle Richardson, a mathematics teacher at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in secondary mathematics instruction.
For the past eight years, Crystal Carlisle Richardson has been teaching Introduction to Calculus to 12th graders and instructing other courses including AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, Precalculus, and Geometry. Throughout her career, she has served in various other extracurricular school positions including International Club Advisor, School Choir Director, Dance Coach Director, and Class Advisor for the Graduating Class of 2007, 2008 and 2013. She also teaches basic mathematics for college students, introduction to algebra, intermediate algebra, self-paced math, and college level algebra on a part-time basis at the Community College of Baltimore County for Dundalk, Essex, Catonsville, and Owings Mills, and tutors children in the city.
While attending high school, Ms. Richardson served as the president of her freshman class, the vice president of her sophomore class, the treasurer and vice president of her junior class and the vice president of her senior class. Coming from a very small family, she tries to make them proud of everything she does as she is the first in the family to graduate from college. Attributing her success to her hard work, determination, and the upbringing and encouragement she received from her mother and grandmother to get a degree and pursue a career according to her interests, she feels tremendously satisfied when former students come back to visit Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and thank her for pushing them and keeping them focused.
Crystal Carlisle Richardson is pursuing a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education at Morgan State University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Secondary Education from Lynchburg College. A member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Kappa Delta Pi, she hopes to teach at the university or college level and earn a Ph.D. in mathematics education in the future.
