Born in Poland, Dr. Zimmerman relocated to the United States as a teenager in 1950. He later attended Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science before receiving a Ph.D. in 1963. With an Ivy League education under his belt, he went on to achieve a notable career as a physicist, professor and researcher. His tenure with Boston University began shortly after he attained his doctorate, and he served as an associate professor of physics before assuming a full professorship role in 1974. He was Chairman of the Physics Department and many University committees. Dr. Zimmerman has been a respected professor emeritus of Boston University since 2001.
