Brian and Susan Evans will be hosting a Baby Shower luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 1:00 pm in the Stardust Room. The shower is to welcome their son Zachary into the world and also to kick off the first fundraiser for their foundation, "The Skin Deformities and Research Foundation".
This is the mission of the foundation in the doctors' own words: "Every day thousands of people both children and adults are faced with scars that can affect their well-being. Many of these injuries occur as a result of a trauma, burn, motor vehicle accident or cancer. These external changes may not be life threatening, but their emotional damage can be extremely devastating. These external changes can impact our daily lives, personal interactions, and sometimes or own personal identity. We still live in a society where we are judged by our appearance. The goal of the Skin Deformities and Research Foundation is to work toward repairing at every level, brightening smiles and helping others become complete. "
There will be a celebrity red carpet and extensive press coverage. The doctors are nationally known from their TV show "Dr.90210". The event will be broadcast on the show. In lieu of gifts, the doctors have requested donations be made to the foundation.
Entertainment for the event includes Judy Bencivengo, Child Care Resource Coordinator for UCLA Early Care & Education Center; Sunda Croonquist, popular comic at the Laugh Factory; Leslie Sykes, weekend co-anchor for ABC7 news in Los Angeles; Jovana Lara, co-anchor for ABC 7 midday news in Los Angeles; and Jim Hill, sports director for CBS2 in Los Angeles. Musical accompaniment will be by the famed harp and flute duo "Arpa & Aulos. The featured performer for the afternoon will be the internationally famous mezzo soprano Denyce Graves.
Recognized worldwide as one of today's most exciting vocal stars, Denyce Graves continues to gather unparalleled popular and critical acclaim in performances on four continents. Though her repertoire is extensive, her signature parts are the title roles in Carmen and Samson et Dalila. Ms. Graves also performed the opera Werther with Andrea Bocelli for the Michigan Opera Theatre, the first opera broadcast on the Internet in its entirety in 1999.
Ms.Graves sang "America the Beautiful" and "Lord's Prayer" at the Washington National Cathedral during a memorial service honoring the victims of 9/11 on September 14, 2001. On January 20, 2005, she sang during the 55th Presidential Inauguration of President George W. Bush. In 2007, she performed "The Lord's Prayer" at the state funeral for Gerald Ford at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
In 2003, Graves performed in front of a live audience at the Metropolitan Opera for a television special, Denyce Graves: Breaking the Rules. Since 2005, she has hosted a radio show, Voce di Donna (Voice of a Lady), on XM Satellite Radio. She is currently an industry panelist on "American Idol Underground".

Skin Deformities and Research Foundation is a non-profit organization. It's goal to help disadvantaged children and adults with facial injuries and/or disfigurations with restorative plastic surgery. It was established in 2006 by Drs.Brian and Susan Evans.
