NEW YORK, NY, November 11, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sha-La Music, Inc. announces a new Publishing/Licensing Agreement with up-and-coming powerhouse Indie, Music of The Sea, Inc. The new deal will have Music of The Sea representing Sha-La's catalog, which includes Writer/Producer Robert Allen, as well as Singer/Songwriter Bruce Engler, US rockers The Discontent and UK rockers The Glass Hearts. Allen, who is also the President of artist-driven Sha-La, is the man behind Americana/Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic and has been establishing a successful track record with sync licensing his music to TV.
Eddie Caldwell, CEO/Founder of Music of The Sea issued a statement, "I'm very excited to be representing and working with Sha-La Music's Catalog and Robert Allen, who always brings a high degree of quality to his music and productions. It's my pleasure being able to give access to Sha-La's catalog to all of my sync partners and I look forward to a very successful partnership."
Music of The Sea has quickly become one of the leading Indie Publishers in the Music Industry, amassing a catalog of over 20,000 songs in the past few years. The Sha-La Music catalog will be immediately included in MOTS's vast network of Sync partners, which includes one of the leading Advertising Agencies in the world--the Omnicom Group, as well as CBS Television and Getty Images, among others.
The deal between the 2 companies has its roots in a sync licensing deal that Eddie did for the short lived Warner Bros.TV show, The Carrie Diaries. Eddie successfully placed 3 of Robert's songs with the show's Music Supervisor, Alexandra Patsavas of Chop Shop Music, one of the top music supervisors in LA. Robert comments, "I met Eddie 4 years ago in Cannes at Midem and we became fast friends. We talked about doing something together, and one day, Eddie sent me an email asking if I had any songs for this TV show. I sent him a few things and about a week later he called and said we got it! That was the first time we got to work together and he's been after me ever since-lol."
DownTown Mystic is Robert's alter-ego and indie artist project that features some top musicians like the RnR Hall of Fame rhythm section of Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, as well as Steve Holley and Paul Page, the rhythm section for Ian Hunter's Rant Band. DownTown Mystic has been gaining fans through successful Radio Airplay, as well as critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. Sha-La released the self-titled DownTown Mystic album last year, which stayed on the Americana Music Assn. Radio Charts for 40 consecutive weeks. The album yielded the hit single Way To Know (featuring Max & Garry), which got airplay on over 10,000 stations around the world and went to #1 on the Roots Music Report Alt/Rock Song Chart, with the album going to #3 on the RMR Alt/Rock Album Chart.
Besides the impressive world-wide radio play for DownTown Mystic, Robert has also been building a successful sync licensing career with music placed on TV shows like NBC/Universal's The Voice, the WB's Carrie Diaries, The History Channel's American Pickers and a host of other shows on MTV, USA, Discovery, TLC and WE TV. Most recently, Robert has 2 DownTown Mystic tracks featured in a web video promoting Dr. Pepper and 8-time Female Wrestling Champ/Country Singer, Mickie James. Next year Robert will have DownTown Mystic music in an upcoming Indie film called From Point A to Point B that's already receiving a good deal of buzz in Hollywood.
Unlike writing for DownTown Mystic, Robert says, "I like to create pieces of music I call 'soundscapes' because it's very freeing not having to define a piece of music by writing lyrics for it or keeping it in a certain genre." As the President of Sha-La Music, Inc., Robert feels the timing is right for joining forces with Eddie and Music of The Sea. "I've been a big fan of Eddie's ever since I met him and he's been a big supporter of mine. He's without a doubt the hardest working man in the biz and I'm looking forward to our collaboration."
