Maureen M. Houston-Dow, CNOR, CLNC, Celebrated for Excellence in Operating Room Nursing

    LOWELL, MA, December 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maureen M. Houston-Dow, CNOR, CLNC, Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) at Lowell General Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in operating room nursing.

Motivated by an interested in nursing, Maureen M. Houston-Dow began her career in healthcare over 12 years ago. Now a respected operating room nurse, she is proud to lend her talents to Lowell General Hospital, a position she has held for the past 4½ years. In addition to educating patients about surgical procedures, Ms. Houston-Dow ensures patient safety and comfort throughout the perioperative process. She utilizes her expertise to fulfill the responsibilities of a scrub nurse and performs a number of varying duties outside the sterility of the operating room.

Prior to joining Lowell General Hospital, Ms. Houston-Dow was employed by Harborside Healthcare as a charge nurse and a long-term and skilled unit manager. She considers assisting patients on a daily basis to be especially rewarding and attributes her success to diligence and determination.

Ms. Houston-Dow is currently participating in the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program and is pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing at Rivier College. She holds an associate degree in nursing and is a certified operating room nurse and legal nurse consultant. Her professional affiliations include the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses, the American Nurses Association, Inc. and the National Association of Legal Nurse Consultants.
