With over four years of experience, Megan Gela serves as a First-Grade Teacher for the Schenectady City School District. Specialized in mathematics and reading instruction, she teaches a class of 20 students in the subjects of reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. She holds a Master's degree in Childhood Education from The College of Saint Rose, earned in 2005, and will seek to pursue a degree in library studies as she continues to enhance her career. For now, she cites building relationships with students as the most rewarding aspect of her career. Having always wanted to be a teacher, she credits her success to dedication and her caring nature. She has worked to include the volunteer organization, Junior Achievement, in all her buildings - connecting local business leaders and students to learn about economics.
