New Book Reveals How "Conscious Coupling" is Better for Marriage Than It is For Divorce

Instead of focusing on how to "consciously uncouple" like celebrities, authors and long-term world travelers Warren and Betsy Talbot advocate giving that same level of conscious attention to strengthening your relationship first.

"When we focused on how to get the relationship we wanted instead of complaining about the one we had, everything changed," says coauthor Betsy Talbot.

SEATTLE, WA, April 23, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Warren and Betsy Talbot offer a straightforward yet intimate take on how they turned their own failing marriage around in their fourth book, Married with Luggage: What We Learned About Love by Traveling the World.

At the lowest point in their marriage in 2006 they decided to consciously put their relationship first, and the result paved the way for a years-long adventure together around the world. Today the Talbots celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary in Spain.

"When we focused on how to get the relationship we wanted instead of complaining about the one we had, everything changed," says coauthor Betsy Talbot. She credits a focus on designing the lifestyle they wanted, right down to their work commutes and where they lived, for starting the turnaround in their marriage.

As they continued "consciously coupling," even going so far as to institute a one-year renewable marriage contract, they were surprised at how quickly they achieved the bond that had previously eluded them.

"The 'us' of 2006 would never have been able to hike 300 miles in Turkey or write even one page of a book together," says coauthor Warren Talbot. Since selling everything they owned to travel the world in 2010, the Talbots have faced an erupting volcano, an 18-hour storm in the icy Drake Passage, and a political coup attempt. Their book details these adventures and more, highlighting how they became a stronger team as they continued refining their relationship and life goals together.

To celebrate love, one lucky reader of the book will win two First-Class Global Passes from Eurail.com to plan their own international love affair. The drawing will be May 15, 2014, and contest rules can be found at http://www.MarriedwithLuggage.com/contest
