Rachel Holthouse Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Education

Rachel Holthouse's interest in education led her to connect with the industry overseas



    MELBOURNE, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, July 9, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rachel Holthouse, Chief Executive Officer of RMIT Training, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in the education industry.

After working for News Ltd., in Sydney, and then in education at Melbourne University's Hawthorn Language Centre, Ms. Holthouse held senior international positions for Melbourne University. She worked in Asia as the Director of Melbourne University's Hawthorn-Singapore English Language Centre but particularly highlights her time in the UK, where she held the role of Principal of Melbourne University's Edinburgh School of English in Scotland. During this time, she took on corporate governance responsibilities as a board director for UMEE (UK) Pty Ltd, a company of the Univeristy of Melbourne. On her return to Australia, she was appointed Executive Manager of Business Strategy and Operations for Melbourne University's prestigious Department of Otolaryngology, home of Australia's renowned cochlear implant and the Bionic Ear Institute. In December 2009, she moved to RMIT University in Melbourne, where she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of RMIT Training, a company owned by RMIT University which delivers English language programs and academic research publications. As CEO, she works on building a strong company infrastructure and nurturing the talent amongst her staff, providing operational and financial governance, developing strategic direction and achieving business growth, while focussing particularly on international expansion.

With a staff of 180, the company has a global presence through its business units of RMIT Publishing and RMIT English Worldwide. RMIT Publishing is an aggregator of scholarly content often not available through other online sources. The main product, INFORMIT, is used by all Australian university and state libraries, many government departments and by several notable, international education organizations in New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, India, as well as the national libraries in UK, New Zealand and Australia. Focused on Asia Pacific content, RMIT Publishing's collections also provide an essential resource for practititioners in health, law and engineering. Ms. Holthouse received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Ancient History from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma of Education from Melbourne University. Additionally, she holds a Master of Applied Linguistics from Macquarie University and is Cambridge-certified to teach the English language to adults. When she is away from the office, she enjoys yoga, swimming, traveling and reading.
