MANDEVILLE, LA, October 17, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michele Cooper, M.D., a plastic surgery specialist serving the New Orleans area, is a great example of a plastic surgeon who combines state-of-the-art technology with dedication and compassion for the men and women who come to her practice. This is evidenced by her upcoming participation in Plastic Surgery The Meeting, her recent addition of the VECTRA 3-D imaging system to her practice, and her sponsorship of BRA Day USA.
Plastic Surgery The Meeting is a conference that brings medical manufacturers together with physicians and aesthetic specialists from around the world. At the conference, professionals will have the opportunity to see the latest technology available for both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic enhancements. Dr. Cooper said she is looking forward to the event, which takes place Oct 26-30 in New Orleans.
"It's a thrill to have such a world-class event right here in our own backyard," Dr. Cooper says. "As someone who really strives to offer the best in aesthetic technology for my patients, I can't wait to see the exciting innovations and to hear from pioneers in our field. It's an opportunity to connect with not only New Orleans plastic surgeons but also my colleagues from around the world."
Earlier this year, Dr. Cooper began offering VECTRA 3-D imaging to aid in the cosmetic surgery planning process. Using digital photography and 3-D images, the VECTRA system allows women interested in breast augmentation in New Orleans to "virtually try on" a variety of breast sizes and shapes prior to surgery, Dr. Cooper says.
"You take a new car for a test drive before you buy it. You try on new clothes before you take them to the register. You even sample flavors at the yogurt shop before you fill up your cup," she says. "I think women should be able to preview the results of something as important as breast augmentation."
Another example of Dr. Cooper's commitment to patients is her sponsorship of National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, or BRA Day USA, which is Oct. 17. Dr. Cooper and her husband were featured in the October issue of Sophisticated Woman, a Louisiana lifestyle publication, for their efforts to bring awareness to options for breast reconstruction following a mastectomy.
Dr. Cooper's husband, Dr. Scott K. Sullivan, is a co-founder of The Center for Restorative Breast Surgery, which is a national sponsor of BRA Day. Dr. Cooper is a local sponsor.
"Many oncologists and general surgeons are primarily focused on treating the cancer," notes Dr. Cooper. "They don't perform breast reconstruction, so they don't always pass on information about reconstruction to patients. The goal of BRA Day is to encourage better awareness and communication of reconstructive options to cancer patients.
Dr. Michele Cooper is a board-certified New Orleans plastic surgeon performing cosmetic plastic surgery procedures ranging from breast enlargement and liposuction to face lifts and non-invasive treatments for the body and skin. After earning her medical degree from University of Maryland Medical School, Dr. Cooper completed residencies in general and plastic surgery as well as a fellowship in pediatric craniofacial surgery. She has received numerous awards for her work and currently serves a full range of patients from her New Orleans-area plastic surgery office.
