RESTON, VA, May 13, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Twenty-five years is the remarkable length of time that Catherine Fulkerson has committed to Virginia's Reston Association, one of the largest community associations in the country. Ms. Fulkerson's professional saga began in 1991 when she launched her career at Reston Association by accepting a job as a tennis program assistant. She steadily climbed the corporate ladder, advancing through assistant and managerial positions for 15 years, until securing a role as director of administration, member services and IT in 2006, a position in which she remained for nearly eight years. In October 2013, Ms. Fulkerson's experience and dedication landed her at the top of the corporate ranks, and she was respectably appointed acting CEO, followed by a permanent role as CEO of the association.
Prior to joining Reston Association, Ms. Fulkerson demonstrated at an early age that she had a goal-driven work ethic. She graduated in 1989 from Washington College in Chestertown, Md., with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and American history. Furthering her education, she attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., graduating in 1997 with a master's degree in public administration.
Once professionally established with Reston Association, it was only a matter of time before peers and colleagues would begin to take notice of Ms. Fulkerson's perseverance. Indeed, accolades accumulated and The Community Associations Institute awarded her with a Virginia Legislative Action Committee Spark-plug Award in 2003. Leadership Fairfax, Inc. presented her with a Member of the Year-Torchbearer Award in 2003, as well as a Remarkable Resource Award in 2009. In 2004 she earned a Community Service Award from the Martin Luther King Day Planning Committee, and in 2012 she was named both Citizen of the Year by the Reston Citizens Association, as well as Volunteer of the Year by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, Ms. Fulkerson was named a Best of Reston Honoree in the Individual Community Leader category by the Cornerstones of Reston in 2014.
Catherine Fulkerson resides in Reston with her husband, Dave, and their daughter, Sara Anne.
