In 2012, Dr. Shimada was named head of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aichi Human Service Center. In the 1990s, Dr. Shimada spent time at the university as a resident and research scientist. In addition to his contributions to neuropathology and research, his work has been successfully published in numerous professional journals.
With the ever-changing landscape of neuropathology, Dr. Shimada maintains affiliation with various organizations to stay on the cutting edge of the field. He is a member of the Japanese Society of Neuropathology, Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society, Society for Neuroscience and The New York Academy of Sciences.
